THE OPPORTUNITY
CONTEXT:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Global Payroll Specialist to join our payroll team based in Montreal Downtown.
ROLE:
Reporting to our Payroll and Compensation Manager, you will be involved in managing the bi-monthly payroll for Canada and the US, future expansion to Europe. This role requires a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to work under pressure.
WHAT YOU WILL DO WITH US
- Payroll Management: Oversee bi-monthly payroll processing for Canada and the US (Expansion to Europe), including data entry for advances, parental leave, salary adjustments, retroactive calculations, commissions, and bonuses.
- Employee Records: Maintain and ensure the accuracy of employee records in the ADP WFN payroll system.
- Compliance: Ensure payroll processing complies with internal policies and labor laws in Quebec, other Canadian provinces, the US, and other countries.
- Reporting: Produce employment records, payroll entries, and various monthly reports.
- Payments: Prepare payments for bonuses, commissions, and other disbursements.
- Annual Updates: Enter annual salary increases and update amounts for deductions and taxable benefits.
- Support: Assist with off-cycle payrolls, year-end files (T4/R1, summaries, CNESST, W2, etc.), and respond to employee and manager inquiries.
- Training: Provide support and training to managers and employees on the WFN time management platform.
- Email Management: Manage the payroll email inbox, responding within 48 hours.
- Additional Tasks: Produce any requested reports or related tasks.
YOUR PROFILE
If you have the below experience and strengths this role could be for you:
Skills:
- At least 1-3 years in similar roles.
- Knowledge of ADP WFN payroll system and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Knowledge of labor laws in Quebec and other Canadian provinces; familiarity of US labor laws is an asset.
- Certification from the National Payroll Institute (PCP or LAP) is an asset.
- DEC in accounting/administration or DEP in accounting with equivalent experience.
Soft Skills :
- Bilingualism (French/English) required.
- Ability to conduct business in English is required given our customer base; wherever possible, we will support the employee's right to work in French
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to perform, understand, and explain various calculations.
- High level of accuracy and ability to spot and correct errors.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
