Global Safety and Security Technology and Systems Manager
*This role is in office 4 days per week in Boston*
The Global Safety and Security Technology and Systems Manager will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing Wayfair’s physical security infrastructure across global operations. This position serves as the subject matter expert for security technology, ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and standardization of critical systems, including CCTV, access control, alarm systems, and other security technologies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in security systems, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external partners. This role requires hands-on expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in security operations.
What You’ll Do
Security Systems Management & Optimization- Oversee and maintain the health, functionality, and efficiency of security systems, including CCTV, access control, alarm systems, and related engineering, ensuring continuous operation and rapid issue resolution.
- Develop and implement standardized programming and system configurations to enhance security technology effectiveness.
- Create end-user training and troubleshooting documentation to improve efficiency and usability across locations.
- Establish and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the design, approval, and deployment of security technologies throughout Wayfair’s supply chain network.
- Conduct regular security audits to assess current system effectiveness, identify vulnerabilities, and implement improvements to enhance protection.
- Partner with Legal, Talent Management, IT, and Media Relations to align security initiatives with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain effective relationships with security vendors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to ensure best-in-class security solutions.
- Support post-theft investigations by identifying security gaps and recommending technology-driven solutions to prevent future incidents.
- Assist in threat vulnerability assessments and implement risk mitigation strategies based on security technology insights.
- Stay ahead of emerging security technologies and proactively recommend innovative solutions to enhance Wayfair’s security posture.
- Drive continuous improvement by evaluating and implementing new security technologies and best practices.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 5+ years of experience in access control, camera and VMS systems, alarm monitoring, or as a system integrator.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with experience managing remote and on-site security system support.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action, adaptability to ambiguity, and a focus on delivering results.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling security matters.
- Strong business acumen, able to work within a budget and demonstrate sound decision-making capabilities.
- Expertise in physical security design, development, and implementation.
- Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to gain stakeholder buy-in and navigate a complex organization.
- Ability to travel up to 50% within the U.S. and globally as required.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as necessary.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods (e.g., sitting or standing).
- Ability to move about within an office, store, or warehouse environment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Professional certifications such as Axis, Hanwha, Lenel, DMP, or similar.
- Hands-on technical experience with security systems and a working knowledge of basic electronic concepts.
- Proven experience with Windows and Linux server management, access control and VMS programming, SQL
- Experience with security and life safety best practices, particularly in retail and distribution environments.
- Background in project management, risk assessments, and threat vulnerability analysis.
