The Group Experience Design Director is ultimately responsible for leading the overall design excellence for AKQA across Australia. They work alongside Group Strategy, Technology and Creative Directors and are a member of the Senior leadership group who are responsible for setting the standards for our work and inspiring our workforce, and ultimately having our work highly regarded by our clients and the industry in general.

The GEDD ensures brand and customer experiences created by AKQA are meaningful, pleasurable, and set a benchmark for all to follow. The EDD is responsible for amplifying the AKQA reputation in market by elevating the way we communicate our work and the stories we tell around it. The GEDD leads the way in embedding Design as a strategy alongside leading Design as a service we provide.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Lead new business efforts from a design thinking and aesthetic perspective.
  • Lead key client relationships and engagement
  • Embed visual storytelling and design quality into our internal processes. Champion creativity and ideas in all our work, Integrate RnD thinking and efforts wherever possible.
  • Identify our most valuable briefs and how they can be solved as brand experiences not individual challenges.
  • Ensure AKQA are up-to-date on the latest HCD design and technology trends & methodologies.
  • Lead teams to deliver end-to-end experience design projects through discovery, definition, solution and build phases.
  • Respond effectively to client needs, RFPs and lead pitches.
  • Work with CPs, R&D to identify and convert opportunities.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in UX and visual design, both to clients and to the industry as required.
  • Develop case studies for XD output, innovations and processes.
  • Ensure the quality of key client relationships and engagement.
  • Lead and grow a team, coaching and managing them to their maximum potential and career development.
  • Contribute to building agency profile by participating and providing thought leadership.
