Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records for Mintel's global operations. You will work closely with the finance team to support the financial planning and reporting processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare and review monthly consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Oversee monthly close activities, including close liaison with regional finance teams for journal postings, accrual and prepayment identifications, and cost assurance activities to ensure complete and accurate results.

  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.

  • Monitor and report on financial performance against budget, highlighting any variances and providing analysis to support decision-making.

  • Manage the intercompany accounting process, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions and reconciliations.

  • Own the Global Chart of Accounts and ensure alignment with US and APAC counterparts.

  • Ensure tax compliance.

  • Serve as a technical expert in latest accounting regulations, prepare and present papers detailing and assessing the impact of changes in UK GAAP and Companies House regulations on the Group.

  • Support the year-end audit process, liaising with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies, identifying and addressing any issues or gaps.

  • Continuously identify potential areas for process and systems improvements.

  • Provide financial support and analysis for ad-hoc projects, as required.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 5 years' experience in a financial accounting role.

  • Experience of Group consolidation and multi-currency transactions is essential.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards (FRS102).

  • Experience with month-end close processes, financial reporting, and budgeting/forecasting.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify trends.

  • Demonstrable experience of tax compliance including corporation and sales tax

  • Proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with financial and non-financial stakeholders across the organisation.
