Elastic is searching for an outstanding and experienced Group Vice President of Software development to take the reins of our Platform group (representing over 450 highly skilled software developers), housing our crown jewels, including well-known products like Elasticsearch and Kibana. As the leader of this key team, you will orchestrate the development and enhancement of our platform, which serves as the backbone empowering all our software development teams to build groundbreaking solutions in the realms of search, observability, and security.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Lead, mentor, and encourage a large and complementary team of VPs, senior directors and distinguished software developers, championing a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation. 
  • Platform Excellence: Be responsible for the growth and evolution of our platform through innovation, ensuring it remains ground breaking, scalable, and adaptable to meet the evolving needs of our customers. 
  • Strategic Direction: Collaborate with the executive team and senior leadership team to set the vision, strategy, and long-term goals that align with the business objectives, contributing to Elastic's growth. 

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience running software development teams in one of the following domains : databases, SaaS, cloud services, analytics tools, observability, security, or GenAI 
  • Extensive Engineering Leadership: Proven track record of success in leading large-scale engineering organizations, preferably in a SaaS or technology-driven company. 
  • Technical Competence: Strong background in software development and technology, with a deep understanding of modern software development practices and methodologies.
  • Inspirational Leadership: Humble and ambitious, you have a passion for mentorship and team development, encouraging a culture of excellence, ownership, and growth. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with C-level executives, stakeholders from different parts of the business and engineering teams alike.
