Lyft’s Hardware Technology Team is in search of a Hardware Manufacturing Test Engineer to identify and mature new and impactful technologies for our micromobility ecosystem. Candidates should have a strong background in mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering and have the skills to work both as an individual contributor and as a technical lead for a cross-functional team. Candidates should be able to leverage their product development experience and systems-level thinking to drive evaluation, development and deployment of technologies and algorithms to improve our micromobility offerings. 

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications and test scripts for automated manufacturing test systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test requirements, develop test plans, and implement test strategies that meet quality and performance objectives.
  • Configure and integrate test equipment, instrumentation, and sensors into manufacturing test jigs and fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot and debug hardware and software issues in manufacturing test systems to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Optimize test processes and procedures to improve efficiency, scalability, and repeatability of manufacturing test operations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for test failures and production defects.
  • Document test procedures, specifications, and technical requirements for manufacturing test systems and equipment.
  • Provide training and support to manufacturing personnel, contract manufacturers and some customers on the operation and maintenance of test jigs and fixtures.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in manufacturing test engineering.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering, or a related hardware product design field. Advanced degree preferred. 
  • Proven experience in developing and deploying software and hardware solutions for manufacturing test automation, or in electrical hardware product development. 
  • Proactive and reactive, comfortable shifting priorities as requested by unexpected manufacturing realities
  • Technical skills: 
    • Software: proficiency in programming languages such as Python. Experience with C, MySQL, or similar for test automation and data analysis. 
    • Hardware: 
      • Electronic product development experience: experience developing schematics, PCB layouts, BOM, etc.
      • Experience with RS485, RS232, CAN, I2C, SPI communication protocols
  • Proven experience in developing and deploying software and hardware solutions for manufacturing test automation.
  • Strong understanding of electronic circuits, sensors, actuators, and control systems.
  • Experience with test equipment and instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and signal generators.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.
