Head of CompIntel Strategy & Ops

Full Time
Boston, MA, USA

To win in the home goods space, Wayfair has to make strategic decisions with extensive and asymmetric awareness of the competitive landscape. CompIntel acquires the data for competitive insights and decisioning, namely exact competitor matches which power target price for branded products (matching to lowest tier 1 competitor price) and market / competitor price indices, and competitive share tracking via 3rd party credit card data.

We are looking for a Senior Manager to lead our CompIntel Strategy & Ops which drives the acquisition and maintenance of product matches, and procures competitive insights to help inform strategic decisions. In this role, you will tightly partner with our Technology team in advancing our match acquisition and maintenance processes with a focus on automation whilst maintaining accuracy through tight audit processes. To prioritize the right new matches and identify new opportunities in our workflows, you will also tightly partner with various senior leaders in our commercial team, including Pricing and Category Management. As part of the competitive insights workstream, you will closely work with Business Trends and Category leadership to prioritize investigations and share insights. This is a highly visible workstream with exposure up to C-suite.

What You'll Do

  • Coach & lead a team of five (Senior) Analysts who own specific subsets of the CompIntel Strategy & Ops agenda (Branded Matches, Differentiated Matches, Analytics, Cross-store Ops, 3rd party credit card data)
  • Lead the CompIntel STO’s (Strategy & Ops and Technology teams combined) recurring alignment meetings, including Monthly and Weekly Business Reviews (MBRs and WBRs)
  • Develop and track OKRs for the CompIntel Strategy & Ops team, and tightly partner with Tech Leadership on aligning on corresponding OKRs in their respective spaces
  • Manage the budget and KPI tracking of the CompIntel team, including oversight of the Offshore Labor budget
  • Drive the prioritization of new CompIntel match acquisition together with Pricing and Category leadership, and identify the most effective approach to acquire these matches
  • Regularly retest our current processes and flows, including crawling schedules, match accuracy, cost/match and match rate (the success of finding a match / attempt which is of particular importance for manual matches)
  • Work with Technology in identifying and prioritizing bug fixes (e.g. crawling issues)
  • Build and maintain a roadmap for the Competitive Insights space, leveraging 3rd party credit card and internal product match / order data. Ensure the plan is aligned with Business Trends and Commercial leadership
  • Maintain and build out our various share tracking indices, including the yipit home pureplay index and the yipit broad catalog competitors cuts (tracking our share by category / class vs. Amazon, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe’s and CostCo).

What You'll Need

  • 5+ years of work experience in analytical, consulting, technology, startup, or strategy roles
  • Bachelor’s degree from top-tier institution with a strong academic record in economics, math, statistics, engineering, business or related field is a plus
