Wayfair is seeking an accomplished communications leader with proactive and creative problem-solving skills to join its Global Corporate Communications team as the Head of External Corporate Communications. The External Communications Team is responsible for communicating with the media and general public and this individual will be tasked with protecting and advancing Wayfair's reputation as we continue our growth as a company and brand. This is a high visibility role reporting into the CFO and working closely with the CMO and other members of Wayfair’s C-level leadership team to craft impactful communications strategies that will enable the company’s growth and help tell the story of Wayfair.

What You'll Do
  • Strengthen and maintain business press relationships
  • Own pre-briefs for earnings and other major business news/announcements
  • Identify top-tier speaking, editorial, and award opportunities for Wayfair leaders
  • Develop and manage Wayfair’s editorial calendar
  • Craft strategy and provide exec communications support for external exec communications and engagements 
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing team to ensure alignment on Wayfair’s consumer brand and corporate communications, providing counsel and guidance to brand team
  • Manage inbound press/trade inquiries
  • Own reaction to threats to Wayfair's brand reputation such as major crises, merchandising compliance, and customer service challenges
  • Own aboutwayfair.com maintenance and content
  • Own the vendor management for press release, media monitoring, and social monitoring
What You'll Need
  • Superb writing skills with the ability to articulate Wayfair's voice by distilling complex ideas into simple and compelling communications
  • Deep media relations and crisis communications experience 
  • Strong executive presence and experience working with C-level stakeholders 
  • 10+ years of relevant experience (corporate communications, public relations, brand management, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Demonstrated mastery of end-to-end content creation
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize and execute efficiently when priorities shift
  • Energized by working cross-functionally and building strong partnerships
  • Self-starter focused on delivering results - never satisfied with the status quo
  • Grasps new information, recognizes own strengths and weaknesses, pursues self-development, and seeks feedback
  • Experience leading and working alongside a team of strong performers
