The role

We are looking for a Head of Food Safety & Quality Assurance for our newest brand: Factor_: a healthy, ready-to-eat meal delivery service. Who will take a hands-on approach to the maintenance and continuous improvement of both our food safety management system and product quality control processes.

In this role, you will lead our charge to achieve a safe product across all five of our European markets. As part of our Operations and Leadership team, you will be the key driver of our food safety and quality strategy within our team, our vendor network, and our global partners. What you’ll do
  • Lead and develop a high-performing FSQA team to ensure all FSQA requirements are understood, implemented, and consistently executed across all operations.
  • Provide expert technical advice and guidance on all relevant FSQA matters, ensuring legal compliance and building internal expertise through knowledge sharing, awareness campaigns, and accountability measures within the FSQA team.
  • Develop, communicate, and maintain effective food safety and quality strategies and programs that mitigate risks and drive quality improvements.
  • Utilize data analytics to support changes and projects, focusing on improving key business metrics like quality complaints, warm complaints, NPS scores, and Trustpilot reviews.
  • Establish and nurture strategic relationships with industry stakeholders and authorities, representing the company as needed.
  • Collaborate with the international FSQA team to align local policies with the global FSQA strategy.
  • Stay informed of legislative changes and industry best practices, incorporating leading-edge approaches into our systems and processes.
  • Promote, drive, and embed a strong safety and quality culture throughout all teams.
  • Ensure thorough investigation and root cause analysis of all serious complaints, using data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead and manage all roadmap initiatives from start to finish, with a hands-on approach.
  • Share lessons learned across teams and regions, collaborating to enhance processes and achieve better outcomes.
What you’ll bring
  • Completed degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, or other related field with a background in microbiology.
  • 7+ years’ experience within a food manufacturing environment, bonus if within a high-growth startup, or an e-commerce environment
  • English fluency required. German and/or Dutch speaking is a major plus.
  • Experience and understanding of relevant legislation across food and health and safety across markets will be required. Training opportunities to be provided.
  • Outstanding problem solving skills: you are methodical, data-driven, and logical, and have a track record of solving both well-defined and highly ambiguous / complex problems
  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills: you can shift your perspective to work across different functions and geographies, and generate true buy-in to your initiatives
  • An advanced project management toolkit, and the ability to keep multiple priorities moving forward at the same time
  • A customer-obsessed mindset
  • An entrepreneurial streak: you love working in an early stage environment; you’re excited about creating the future and shaping the ready-to-eat category in Europe 
  • Ability and willingness to travel to production locations to be on the ground with the team.
