You will be working for the Technical Compliance Team which is part of OVO Field Services. The Technical Compliance Team is responsible for the Quality/ Assurance/ Compliance and Health and Safety for all zero carbon product installations carried out by OVO Field Services across the whole of Great Britain. The role will be field based which will involve frequent travel.

 

This role in a nutshell:

As we grow our Field Services teams it’s an exciting time and a fantastic opportunity to join and help shape the way we install electric vehicle charge points, Solar PV and battery storage systems for our customers and beyond.

This role will be a pivotal piece in developing our field engineers, internal capabilities & third party contractors as we increase the scale of installations, helping our members and non members to achieve zero carbon living.

You’ll do this by helping and assisting engineers through their upskill journey, closely supervising the quality and performance aspects delivered for each stage of the charger / solar installation and ensuring we provide outstanding customer experience. Supporting the technical services and field operations teams you will be a pivotal person to help achieve high quality, safe and complaint installations delivering against our EV and MCS accreditations, as such we are looking for a highly qualified technical individual with an EV / solar electrical background and experience of performing the role of quality supervisor across installations of EV charge points and solar PV / battery storage in peoples homes; commercial charging experience would be a bonus.

 

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Become a recognised competent person achieving QS recognition under NAPIT.
  • Be the go-to for all technical knowledge of installing EV charge points & Solar/Battery systems
  • Demonstrate a mentor approach to continually develop our internal and external partners.
  • Work with the QS Lead and policy team to ensure that all standards, policies, and environmental plans are compliant with legislation.
  • Using your expert knowledge of the sector you’ll offer technical and operational guidance to help shape our EV & PV delivery. 
  • Work closely with our Field Services Team Managers and QS Lead to ensure the continuous improvement and performance of Engineers & contracts in all aspects of the role, together you shall remain focused on achieving shared key performance measures of success across our EV & PV delivery.
  • Perform a program of workplace engagement visits & desk top validations across the installation of all our in home products, assess technical knowledge and proficiency of Engineers & third party contractors against standards, provide coaching, support and advice to ensure every installation is a safe installation.
  • Build trust and credibility with engineers by taking time to understand what is required in the specific coaching interaction, whilst identifying areas for development  and establishing a focus that sets measures of success.
  • Assist the engineers to deliver an unforgettable member experience through mentoring them to build member engagement.
  • Develop and support  training processes and upskill delivery for engineers across Field Services to gain knowledge & expertise with all things electric vehicles. 
  • Conduct solar survey visits & isolator installations to support ZCL Solar scaling activities.

 

You’ll be a successful "In-Field" Quality Supervisor  here at OVO if you…

  • A core technical competence such as a Level 3 Certificate in Installing, Testing and Ensuring Compliance of Electrical installations in Dwellings, industry-approved apprenticeship, Electrical Level 3 NVQ with AM2(S) or a recognised older qualifications as per EAS qualification guide.
  • Non recognised qualifications such as C&G 2330, 236 pt2, 2360 pt2,2351 etc without AM2 may be considered based on checkable electrical installation experience and commitment to complete additional training and portfolio within a set period of time.  
  • Inspection and Testing qualification (C&G 2391, 2394, 2395 or equivalent)
  • BS7671 IEE 18th Edition regulations.
  • Electrical Vehicle Charging Point, Solar or Battery qualifications (desired).
  • Ability to complete condition reports, minor works and test certificates with good computer literacy.
  • Full valid driving license.
  • Solid understanding of H&S requirements and controls
  • Must be willing to travel with the potential for occasional stays away from home.
  • Excellent communication skills and a great manner in communicating with our customers.
  • A professional and safety approach to all aspects of work.
  • Effective networking and influencing skills;
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to plans, able to respond confidently and positively to changing scenarios;
