Information Security Intern
Please note that this internship is based off of a 3 month full-time basis.
Position Overview
The Information Security Intern at Intelex is responsible for operating information security controls and working closely with multi-functional business partners to identify and manage risk. This is a hands-on position that requires an individual with a technical background to contribute with a team that secures the 24/7 corporate operations of the company and its data centers around the world.
Responsibilities and Deliverables
- Assist in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures under the guidance of the information security team.
- Participate in the evaluation of security tools and technologies to enhance the organization's defense capabilities.
- Support the team in conducting routine security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and risks.
- Assist with the management and monitoring of security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
- Help in the creation and maintenance of documentation related to security processes, incidents, and resolutions.
- Participate in security awareness training initiatives and help promote cybersecurity standard processes within the organization.
- Collaborate with IT and other groups to address security concerns and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Engage in projects aimed at improving the security posture of the organization, as directed by the information security manager or mentor.
- Performing user access review of the file server and migrating departments to MS Teams or Sharepoint.
- Moving intranet web content representing the team to the corporate Sharepoint.
- Report on key performance indicators, generate readable and meaningful outputs which illustrate the company’s information security posture.
Organizational Alignment
- Reports directly to the Chief Information Security Officer
Qualifications
Skills & Work Traits
- This position requires:
- Willingness to learn time and project management skill, able to handle concurrent initiatives
- English language writing skills, able to author complete documents with little need for grammatical or formatting assistance and revision
- Average English language verbal communication skills, able to articulate ideas and concepts effectively
- Continuous learning mentality, able to maintain existing skillsets while progressively embracing new ones
Technical Competencies
Preferred:
- Experience documenting technical operating processes and procedures
Education
Required:
- In pursuit of a post-secondary education in a related field such as Information Security, Cybersecurity, Risk Management, Information Systems or Computer Science
