Infrastructure DevOps Engineer

The Developer Productivity Team empowers engineers at MongoDB through our automated build, test, and release systems for all MongoDB products. Our primary areas of responsibility are building and scaling the infrastructure for our homegrown CI system Evergreen, supporting the tools and systems, and researching and developing support for the many architectures and operating systems in our SDLC.
We're looking for a platform engineer to work on our DevOps infrastructure who will focus on building large scale systems, deploying configuration changes to CI task hosts, building toolchains, and troubleshooting system and configuration related issues.
This role can be based in one of our offices or remotely in North America.
Our ideal candidate will have:- Experience or desire to work with a large, heterogeneous server environment (container/virtual/physical, Linux/Windows/macOS, x86/ARM/Power/zSeries)
- Experience with at least one programming language (Go, Python, Powershell, Bash, etc.)
- Experience or desire to use cloud vendors (AWS, Azure, Google Compute)
- Familiarity with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools like Chef, Packer, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform or CloudFormation (we use Packer, Ansible and Terraform)
- Strong problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Understanding the security fundamentals related to servers and infrastructure configuration.
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins, Travis, or CircleCI (We use Evergreen-CI)
- Experience with version control systems such as Git
- Familiarity with JIRA or other agile planning tools
- Familiarity with infrastructure metrics and monitoring
- Work with colleagues to manage and scale thousands of servers running automated build, test and release jobs across all supported MongoDB platforms including Red Hat, SUSE, Debian, Ubuntu, Windows, IBM (zSeries and Power) and macOS.
- Propose and test new system scaling techniques to squeeze hundreds of hours of compilation and testing for a single build into seconds.
- Contribute to building and maintaining core platform-as-a-service technologies for the purposes of developer productivity tools.
- Provide support for our newest platforms by developing stable machine and toolchain images.
- Troubleshoot and solve system and platform related product issues.
- Accelerate the productivity and confidence in our software development lifecycle through infrastructure and platform engineering
- Give and receive consistent, high quality code review feedback
- Contribute regularly to process and system improvements
- Continually automate and optimize team operational processes
- Participate in and contribute to high standards of documentation and testing for processes, code, and systems

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:$101,000—$198,000 USD
