Our Internal Audit team provides a third line of defence across a wide variety of business areas, working collaboratively with stakeholders to drive risk, control and governance improvements. From enhancing customer journeys, driving progress towards net zero carbon living and meeting our regulatory and compliance obligations, our mission is to deliver high quality and objective assurance to support OVO’s strategy and objectives.
This role in a nutshell:
As an Internal auditor, you’ll work independently or alongside our Lead Auditors to deliver independent assurance against OVO’s principal risks. With a variety of complex regulations and processes governing our business operations, you’ll develop a strong understanding of the risk landscape and carry out detailed analysis and assessments of key controls. You’ll communicate simply and effectively with colleagues across the business to deliver valuable insights and recommendations.
Your key outcomes will be:
- Working on risk-based and mandatory internal audits (as specified by regulators or other external authorities) in line with our annual audit plan.
- Carrying out engagement planning including identification and assessment of risks and controls, and designing the audit work program.
- Fieldwork execution, including carrying out walkthroughs, sampling, data analysis and recording/organising evidence and work papers.
- Building stakeholder relationships and maintaining communication on key findings, recommendations and audit progress throughout the engagement.
- Producing clear and high quality audit reports, and working with management to agree and document action plans.
- Carrying out ongoing audit action monitoring and follow up work.
- Working in accordance with audit professional standards and internal policies to make sure a high quality and consistent audit service is delivered.
You’ll be a successful Internal Auditor here at OVO if you…
- Have a professional audit certification such as IIA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent and a minimum of 12 months experience of auditing principal risks.
- Have knowledge of internal auditing standards and procedures.
- Understand concepts and application of key governance, risk and control frameworks, and the three lines of defence.
- Understand external rules and regulations and their applicability to large companies.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills, and are comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
- Have high attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
- Are resilient in character and able to operate ethically and effectively in challenging situations.
- Have good time management skills and are comfortable undertaking audits to meet delivery deadlines.

We’ll pay you between £40,000 and £47,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
