IT Infrastructure Engineer
Role: IT Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Manchester
Hours: 8:45am – 5:15pm
Package: £40k-£45k base (DOE) + £2k bonus
Primary Purpose:
- To support the day-to-day delivery of the IT function and lead technical projects.
- Working knowledge of technologies - Office 365, VMware, Veeam and SQL.
- Responsible for delivering corporate solutions ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and cybersecurity
- Manage global and local site infrastructure troubleshooting, changes, and projects
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maximize performance and stability through systems monitoring, resolving problems and outages, and making improvements to the existing architecture.
Key accountabilities:
- Co-ordinate technical responses between 3rd line and 2nd line assisting in resolutions and mentoring
- Design, implement and support enhancement/changes
- Produce and maintain operational documentation for technical solutions
- Provide 3rd line support and participate in incident, problem, service request, and change management
- Preparation and compilation of technical documentation to support new system developments
- Engaging regularly with internal 1st/2nd line analysts to assist with escalated faults
Technical skills requirement:
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft cloud services including Azure and Microsoft 365, Conditional access, SSO, and SCIM
- Experience in managing MDM environments including Microsoft Endpoint Manager configuration profiles, application deployment, and autopilot.
- Knowledge of Apple products including Apple Business Manager and device management via Kandji.
- Experience implementing and managing M365 apps such as Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
- Strong knowledge of maintaining hybrid AD environments
- Managing and delivering IT Projects
- VMware – vSphere 7.0
- Windows Server OS administration - including Active Directory
- Backup technologies – Veeam
- AWS infrastructure awareness
- Knowledge of security tools such as Sophos Central and Mimecast
- Provide escalation support to the 2nd line team
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Good working knowledge of ITIL
- Proven previous experience of 3rd line support
- Knowledge of mac OS and endpoint management
Key objectives:
- Engaging regularly with internal 1st/2nd line analysts to assist with escalated faults
- Management of ServiceDesk queue escalations
- Work as part of a team providing Windows/macOS support
- Contribute to improve IT policies
- Automate IT tasks and duties to improve the efficiency of the department and other tasks within the company.
- Support delivery of IT Infrastructure projects
