Pure is expanding our global alliance with Microsoft and other select Alliances strategic to the Pure ecosystem. To accelerate our growth we are hiring a Strategic Alliance Director to build Pure’s Microsoft Japan partnership and supporting our Global Alliances and Japanese growth strategy.
This role will lead Pure’s relationship with Microsoft Japan and support other select strategic alliances including Nutanix, Veeam, and Cisco resulting in meaningful business development, revenue contribution, and delivering overall success metrics of the partnership with Microsoft aligned with our global alliance and company goals. This is a new role with exciting potential to build a country focused business in one of the most challenging and high growth markets.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO…
- Primarily focus on leading the Microsoft Alliance in Japan while supporting and developing other strategic partnerships like Nutanix, Cisco, and Veeam in Japan
- Lead Pure’s Microsoft Japan alliance as part of the Global Alliance team. Success will be measured in terms of strategic alignment with the Global Microsoft Alliance team, pipeline build, joint go-to-market, revenue growth, and field sales and senior leadership engagement.
- Develop and mature strong internal (Pure) and external (Microsoft Japan), cross functional relationships that drive a seamless technology and market execution plan.
- Achieve the mutually agreed, key metrics of the Microsoft Japan Partnership including revenue, pipeline, alliance sourced opportunities, and business plan adherence targets
- Manage the alliance business like a sales leader, holding accountability for achieving the Microsoft, Cisco, Nutanix, and Veeam related bookings targets and managing and reporting on leading revenue KPIs like pipeline to ensure health of the alliance business
- Establish yourself as the trusted, ‘go-to’ resource for all partner and customer facing Microsoft Japan alliance business development opportunities and revenue commitments.
- Lead the interlock of cross company stakeholders including senior executives, marketing, solution marketing, legal, operations and other Alliance stakeholders to help drive the key initiatives and objectives of the Microsoft Japan partnership aligning with Pure’s Global Microsoft Alliance Strategy.
- Develop strategies that allow Pure to capitalize on the local emerging trends, strategic direction, and go-to-market with Microsoft Japan. Example: strategic and creative initiatives with other Pure ecosystem and GTM partners in region.
- Act as the Microsoft Japan Alliance spokesperson at key events.
- Support theater opportunities in APJ as needed for the Microsoft Global Alliance.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience leading Microsoft Japan as an Alliance.
- 9+ years of professional experience in a role that has consistently achieved revenue and technical business development targets with Alliances.
- Proven ability to achieve revenue targets while balancing strategic initiatives across multiple alliances.
- Experience leading quarterly business reviews, establishing governance models, and defining strategic objective and key results for the alliance business
- Must have strong existing relationships with Microsoft Japan, a deep understanding of the Microsoft Japan business structure and go-to-market strategy.
- Track record of establishing successful executive and product/BU senior level relationships.
- Deep understanding of Microsoft’s products, operations, organization, and lines of business in Japan.
- Demonstrated ability to develop an understanding of Pure’s product and joint solution offerings, integrations and solutions to articulate a Pure value proposition.
- Exceptional communications skills and experience presenting and evangelizing the core messages of the Pure and the Microsoft Alliance internally and externally.
- Strong business acumen, outstanding communication skills and capability to effectively build relationships with executive leaders in the Microsoft Japan alliance ecosystem.
- Effective collaboration with multiple cross-functional stakeholders, including sales, Pure’s global alliance team, product business units, marketing, legal, operations and other Alliance stakeholders.
- Self-motivated team player with expertise working in a fast paced, cross-functional manner.
- Must be located in Japan, willing and able to travel where relevant as part of the role.
- Technically fluent in Japanese and English.
