Jump is a multi-stage technology investor focused primarily on leading Series A rounds; we are currently investing out of our 7th fund, which we raised ($350mm) in the summer of 2021. We are a team of thesis-led investors with a deep conviction that you must have a depth of understanding within microsegments of sectors to be effective, good partners to founders. Our portfolio is global and diversified across a broad set of thematic areas - Fintech, RegTech, Vertical SaaS, EdTech, Cybersecurity, and eCommerce to name a few.

As the Data & Portfolio Operations Analyst, you’ll oversee, streamline, and systematize all aspects of Jump Capital’s portfolio and fund management needs, including portfolio data collection, fund reporting, and related analytics.

The analyst will also assist the investment team in deal-sourcing, primarily by integrating various tools to enhance our data-driven sourcing efforts. Though you will collaborate with the investment team, this is not an investing role.

This role is based out of our Chicago office with an expectation to work in the office a portion of each week.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement a systematic process to organize, clean, import, and restructure data, enabling data-driven insights across each of the firm’s core activities: deal sourcing and diligence process, portfolio company monitoring, founder support, & administering the fund.

  • Deal Sourcing & Diligence:
    • Enhance investors’ sourcing by optimizing the data-gathering process to provide better visibility of deal opportunities from founders, VC peers, executives, and advisors.
    • Integrate and systematize external data providers and systems into Jump’s sourcing and investment process to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Assist in developing data-driven dashboards to help the team assess progress toward sourcing goals.
  • Portfolio Monitoring:
    • Monitor portfolio company performance via the development and tracking of portfolio benchmarks, other investment-level metrics, and input from investment team.
    • Administer Jump’s portfolio company data and systems, including Affinity, Notion, and Aumni, ensuring the maintenance and regular updates of internal records.
  • Founder support:
    • Support the team in managing a network of advisor and network connections by establishing a centralized database and enriching data with relevant context.
    • Implement a tracking system to monitor the timing and nature of engagements within the network, ensuring effective management of interactions.
  • Fund Administration:
    • Compile comprehensive portfolio views and collect essential data to aid in valuation and the annual reporting process.
    • Prepare ad-hoc financial models and analyses on fund performance and portfolio performance.

Continuously seek to improve internal systems and processes by building tools and implementing automation wherever possible. Ultimately, aim to integrate and synchronize the core activities outlined above.

Other duties as assigned or needed.

  • Eagerness to explore the potential of GenAI and the adoption of new tools to improve productivity and insights for the Jump Capital team.
