Software Engineer II-Java backend Engineer

Skills : Hands on experience in Java backend development , prior implementation in PHP in one of the projects (Mandatory)

We are looking for a passionate Backend Software Engineer to join the Fulfillment Optimization team. This team builds the platforms that determine how customer orders are fulfilled, optimizing for Wayfair profitability and customer delight. A big part of our work revolves around enhancing and scaling customer-facing platforms that provide fulfillment information on our websites, starting at the top of the customer funnel on the search pages all the way through orders being delivered. Throughout this customer journey, we are responsible for maintaining an accurate representation of our dynamic supply chain, determining how different products will fit into boxes, predicting how these boxes will flow through warehouses and trucks, and ultimately surfacing the information our customers need to inform their decision and the details our suppliers and carriers require to successfully execute on the promises made to our customers. We do all of this in milliseconds, thousands of times per second.

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with your business stakeholders to provide them with transparency, data, and resources to make informed decisions
  • Be a technical leader within and across the teams you work with.
  • Drive high impact architectural decisions and hands-on development, including inception, design, execution, and delivery following good design and coding practices.
  • Obsessively focus on production readiness for the team including testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation and proactive troubleshooting.
  • Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches and propose solutions to meet team and project goals.
  • Create proposals and action plans to garner support across the organization.
  • Influence and contribute to the team’s strategy and roadmap.
  • Tenacity for learning - curious, and constantly pushing the boundary of what is possible.
  • What you bring to the table

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, with a preference for candidates with a mix of start-up and large-company experience
  • Supply Chain domain expertise is a bonus
  • Hands-on experience driving software transformations within high-growth environments at scale
  • Experienced in architecting and building large-scale, cloud-based, and
  • event-driven systems across various projects
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience driving teams forward and ability to influence results
  • Technology Requirements

  • GCP target cloud platform, experience with AWS/Azure at scale
  • Distributed microservice architectures with well architected domain boundaries
  • High volume async messaging architectures
  • Large scale relational and NoSQL style data stores
  • Common open source platforms, tools and framework, eg: Kafka, Kubernetes,Containerization, Java microservices, GraphQL, Spring, etc
