Role:  Language Lead

Location:  London, England, United Kingdom (Working from the London offices 1-2 days a week)

 

About the role: 

We're looking for someone who loves great creative work. You should be passionate about words and ideas, with solid experience in digital and advertising across different companies.

At a day-to-day level, the primary focus of this role is on developing a high-performing team, creative guidance, support, and leadership.

You will partner with the client's Lead Writers and Creative Directors, the OLIVER Transcreation Director and the rest of the team.

What you will be doing: 
  • Best in class work and quality control  
    • You’ll be leading a global creative community for best-in-world copywriting transcreation, overseeing quality control of work produced by freelance network 
    • You’ll be inspiring people to create their best work, across 24 different languages and markets through creative guidance, collaboration, and leadership 
    • Conduct regular work audits in partnership with Apple Lead Writers 
    • Provide feedback and coaching to freelance writers 
    • Maintain and implement style guides and documentation to ensure consistency across all marketing deliverables 
    • Drive continuous innovation in creative workflows and processes 
    • Keep up to date on industry trends, consumer insights, cultural evolution and socio-political events in the markets 
  • Recruitment & Onboarding 
    • Building the ever-growing creative cohort by recruiting and training new talent to the team 
    • Manage and optimise freelance recruitment and onboarding processes 
  • Foster community and culture 
    • Foster a strong brand-aligned culture and community among freelance writers 
    • Work with OLIVER Team on a number of community initiatives throughout the year 
  • Training and upskilling current network 
    • Collaborate with OLIVER Transcreation Managers on tools rollout and process optimisation 
    • Identify skills/knowledge gaps within current network and develop tailored trainings to support the teams 
    • Develop and improve language validation best practices 
  • You will be open and willing to attend sustainability training relevant to your role and soak up recommended research and reading about sustainability issues
What you need to be great in this role: 
  • Proven experience in a creative role (e.g. copywriting, writing, linguistic role, advertising, marketing, publishing)  
  • Experience in project management or operations is a plus 
  • Strong organisational skills to balance creative and operational tasks 
  • Experience and interest in transcreation (even better if you also speak other European languages but not mandatory) 
  • Experience with creative management and career mentorship for large teams  
  • A curiosity for cultural nuances in language 
  • Balancing authority with diplomacy to establish effective working relationship with creative directors and writers within the brand's network of linguists 
  • Ability to inspire and lead teams by direct example 
  • Experience recruiting and growing talent 
  • Managing a knowledge base (style guides, TOV documents) 
  • Previous experience – or a personal interest – in consumer electronics and technology is ideal.
