As the Lead Creative Operations manager in the brand and marketing department, you will be a great team leader who is able to form strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, senior management and creative team mates. You’ll also possess the drive to implement change and create efficiencies, enabling the studio to create a best in class experience for our customers. 

There’s a real focus in 2024 on how we service our business stakeholders, and the impact of the creative work we deliver. The Lead Creative Ops Manager will be pivotal in building on the principles that have been set out and demonstrating the creative studios value.

 

This role in a nutshell:

Reporting into the Head of Creative Studio, the Lead Brand Operations manager takes up a pivotal role in driving forward process improvements and roll out of supporting technology, to establish operational excellence.

This role is focused on supporting the development, refinement and delivery of the creative operating model. Leading the delivery of large operational change projects and managing associated processes, alongside the day to day management of the efficiency of the studio. A key part of this is setting up and being accountable for the utilisation of studio resource and how it’s budgeted to briefing teams from across the business (operating as accounts). You’ll be responsible for reporting against the monthly, quarterly and annual views of this utilisation and adapting the studio set up based on trends or demands of the business.

This role leads on departmental budget management, change support and the creative studio framework - the foundation of how the studio operates (including tooling, systems, budgeting and ways of working). The Lead Creative Operations manager provides support for management and upskilling of the team and will have at least 3 direct reports. One of their key objectives is the development of the team, and ensuring that we have the right capabilities to support the business as it evolves (e.g. production, ‘account management’, KPI reporting).

 

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Support the Head of Creative Studio on the development of new studio and broader Brand and Marketing (BAM) processes and refinement of existing processes as necessary (from definition of briefing processes to our production process). 
  • Working with the Marketing services team (responsible for delivery of our workflow and DAM tool) to ensure that we’re set up for success, the capabilities of the tools are developed to support studio ways of working and that we develop internal process to best optimise the use of the tool
  • Lead on procurement of resources or 3rd parties for specific creative requirements (e.g. image banks, production)
  • Support on complex comms issues and crisis management for BAM team outputs; including management of response for all member comms across multiple brands and platforms. E.g. Pandemic response and crisis monitoring 
  • Lead on high profile, business critical and specialist projects, with varying degrees of confidentiality and senior stakeholder involvement.
  • Play a key decision making role in the team, informed by wider business context and priorities. 
  • Contribute to the monthly studio HOD’s and Leads steering committee and be responsible for building out the agenda and leading on actions.
  • Project scoping and set up of significant and complex change projects in support of Head of Creative Studio, including resource scoping, hiring plans, project structure and budget as well as week to week progress reviews 
  • Day to Day management of Creative Ops budgets
  • Supporting the Head of Creative Studio on the smooth running of all BAM Hiring.
  • Support on team welfare and training planning for the B+M team as directed by the Head of Creative Studio. 
  • Leading a team of 3+direct reports (including Creative Operations managers / project managers / traffic managers).

 

You’ll be a successful Lead Creative Operations Manager here at OVO if you…

  • Have a track record in the set-up and management of marketing and brand functions in ‘start up’ or ‘turnaround’ ideally in fast paced, retailing environments.
  • Have proven experience of supporting projects that are already moving and an ability to add value from day one. Specific experience of the project management of marketing and brand teams and their interface into wider (preferably digital businesses) is a must. 
  • Deep and broad experience in production, creative delivery, digital assets creation and project management tooling
  • Relish the challenge of a fast paced, scale up working environment
  • Be calm and comfortable working with levels of ambiguity and adept at bringing order and clarity into a team environment 
  • A real people person who develops powerful working relationships quickly and maintains them successfully 
  • An exemplary team player, at their best when working within a collective to deliver a shared vision 
  • Be well versed in brand and marketing practice, understanding how agency relationships work and used to managing the relationships between agencies and internal teams 
  • Proven track record of managing lean budgets whilst ensuring quality of output does not suffer 
  • Exudes energy and positivity; the person everyone wants to have in the room 
  • Incredibly organised in a way which instills confidence into all around them
  • A great lead and champion of their team

We’ll pay you between £60,000 and £70,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
