Introduction:

We are seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer (m/f/d) to take charge of our DevOps team and initiatives, shaping our infrastructure strategy and ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency. You will lead a high-performing team, drive automation and reliability, and optimize our cloud environments, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring systems.

Your Objectives & Role:

  • Infrastructure Scaling & Cloud Optimization: Architect, maintain, and optimize our AWS-based infrastructure to ensure scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Monitoring & Performance: Implement and refine monitoring and alerting systems to ensure proactive issue detection and resolution.
  • Security & Compliance: Establish infrastructure security best practices, incident response readiness, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Strategic Alignment: Translate company goals into actionable DevOps strategies, contributing to Peter Park’s growth and innovation.
  • Lead & Mentor: Guide and develop the DevOps team, fostering a culture of ownership, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Automation & CI/CD: Enhance deployment pipelines and automation strategies to streamline workflows, minimize manual effort, and improve system reliability.
  • Incident Management: Act as a key point of contact for critical infrastructure issues, leading resolution efforts and ensuring smooth system operations.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.

Your Expertise, Skills & Mindset:

  • Leadership: Experience in mentoring, guiding, or collaborating with DevOps or engineering teams to foster a strong DevOps culture.
  • Cloud Expertise: Strong experience with AWS (Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, S3, AWS Lambda, EC2, SQS).
  • Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure automation.
  • CI/CD & Automation: Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Monitoring & Observability: Strong knowledge of Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana for monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or Bash for automation and tooling.
  • Networking & Security: Solid understanding of networking, security best practices, and compliance in cloud environments.
  • Agile & Collaboration: Experience working in fast-paced, agile environments and engaging with cross-functional teams.
  • Startup & Scale-up Experience: Exposure to high-growth SaaS, IoT, or mobility solutions is a plus.
  • Languages: Fluent in English (C1 level or higher); German proficiency is a plus but not required.

Technologies We Work With:

  • Event-driven backend development in Python and NestJS, following a microservice architecture
  • Frontend monorepo with Turbo, pnpm, changesets, and storybook, primarily using Vue.js
  • Adoption of TypeScript, NestJS, BullMQ, and Prisma for backends in an opinionated monorepo approach
  • Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, S3
  • Container orchestration with Kubernetes and CI/CD using GitLab
  • Infrastructure provisioning on AWS using Terraform
  • Leveraging the serverless framework on AWS Lambda for high-throughput endpoints
