Core UI team is part of In-Life domain, whose mission is to build amazing customer journeys to create a seamless and enjoyable user experience to power our Plan zero mission. The CoreUI team enables other front end teams by creating UI components and platforms that are scalable, re-usable, bug-free and intuitive.

This role in a nutshell:

Leading a team of 3 engineers covering front end, back end and dev ops work in the Core UI platform team. You’ll work closely to support our delivery driven teams and product managers where needed. We have a very strong engineering culture that’s all about empowerment and ownership: all to solve one of the world's biggest challenges.

Your key outcomes will be:
  • Tech leadership for the Enablers Platform team to deliver current work
  • Work closely with you line manager(SEM) to help drive the roadmap for future work
  • Align work with the other teams in the domain to support them
  • Align work with any product requirements from the business
  • Demo app - Develop an app that helps customer support teams understand customers viewpoints to assist them better with their transition to green energy
  • Redux to React Query - To speed up team workflow, simplify code and make customer login faster

Systems:

  • A/B testing services (Optimizely)
  • Error reporting services (BugSnag/DataDog)
  • Hosting platforms (Vercel/Netlify/AWS)
  • CMS platforms (Netlify CMS, Contentful)
  • Feedback services (Qualtrics)
You’ll be a successful Lead Software Engineer here at OVO if you…
  • Are an expert in JavaScript / TypeScript / Web Technologies / React Native
  • Are an expertised lead developer and feel comfortable delegating tasks
  • Are experienced in mentoring junior developers to help them grow their skills
  • Experienced with Node.js would be a bonus
  • Have experience working on a frontend platform team
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Love writing scalable, resilient, performant code
  • Have familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Have experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) practices.

We’ll pay you between £64,000 and £80,800, depending on your specific skills and experience.

We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.
