SHOULD YOU ACCEPT THIS CHALLENGE…We are actively seeking a highly motivated engineer who excels in dynamic, small-team settings. You will get a chance to contribute to innovative product ideas that tackle challenges within massive-scale cloud storage environments.  These new storage systems will allow our largest customers to meet the demands of AI and Hyperscale workloads. For this role, we are looking for someone with a combination of technical expertise, project leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional hardware and software teams. This person will be responsible for leading the hardware product development process, collaborating and driving external ODM partners, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality hardware products within specified timelines. 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING...

  • Technical Leadership:
    • Provide technical leadership developing specifications, test criteria, and requirement documents for new products. Drive rapid product development across multiple companies and geographies.  
    • Drive engineering teams to review design specifications and resolve technical challenges.  Ensure that the new systems meets: feature, quality, performance, and cost objectives.
  • Communication:
    • Provide regular updates to executive staff on development status, milestones, and any potential challenges.
    • Foster effective communication channels between internal teams and ODM partners.
  • ODM Partner Selection:
    • Identify and evaluate potential ODM partners based on their capabilities, track record, and alignment with company requirements.
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with selected ODM partners.
  • Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Develop and execute project plans, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and timelines.
    • Coordinate activities across cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, quality assurance, and supply chain.
  • Cost Management:
    • Manage the budget for hardware development projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial goals.
    • Negotiate pricing and contracts with ODM partners to optimize costs without compromising quality.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks in the hardware development process and implement mitigation strategies.
    • Proactively address issues that may impact project timelines or product quality.

 WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE…

  • A degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (desired), with either:
    • Masters with 6+ years of professional work experience.
    • Bachelors with 8+ years of professional work experience.
  • Experience working with cloud hardware companies or hyperscalers preferred (Storage, Server, Networking Hardware Systems).
  • Experience selecting, interfacing, and driving Hardware ODM’s/CM’s from product specification to shipment. 
  • Experience managing hardware product development/mfg with ODM’s/CM’s including but not limited to; scheduling, costing, performance, debug, cost & risk management. 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, Mfg. Test, and support to deliver high quality products to our customers.
  • Experience implementing and automating HW qualification processes.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and debugging all aspects of hardware systems.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, technical development environment.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced changing business environment.
  • High level of teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • You will be based in Santa Clara, CA. As this is an office-centric role, you are expected to be present in the office for 4+ days a week. As outlined in Pure's Hybrid Work Policy, there will be variations over periods of time, depending on business need.

The salary range for this position is: $136,000-$238,000 per year. Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations. This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
