LEAD ORBITAL TUBE WELDER

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote a healthy working environment for your teammates.
  • Assign technicians and prioritize work before official start of shift based on production schedule and in alignment with the technician skills matrix.
  • Coordinate personnel training and development.
  • Review pass-down, update lead board with pertinent information, and work with your Lead counterpart to tackle any schedule needs or shop improvement projects.
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Conduct root cause analysis, and implement corresponding corrective action plans.
  • Maintain area metrics, scheduling tools, and consumable supply inventory.
  • Check work after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure it is complete per drawing.
  • Coordinate support organization efforts to minimize production interruptions.
  • Conduct a communication briefing at start of shift with technicians.
  • Prepare your following shift for success.

 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • Certification from a formal orbital weld training program or 2+ years of OTW experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with welding Stainless Steel, Inconel or Titanium.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience leading small teams.
  • SpaceX certified Authorized Overseer.
  • Certification from SpaceX Orbital weld training program.
  • Proficient with COPV bottle processing and handling.
  • Proficient with Super Tool OTW and COPV Vacuum purging.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and lay out.
  • Proficient with computers, the ability to use MS Office, shop floor management software (ERP), and related programs.
  • 1+ years of experience with reading blue prints, interpreting and working from drawings, controlled documentation and processes such as: layout drawings, mechanical drawings, assembly procedures / work instructions; schematics, engineering drawings, and parts list.
  • Demonstrated record of high-performance (rated 4/4 or above in previous review cycles).
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work all shifts and available for overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods – 8 hours.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Ability to perform repetitive assembly operations such as grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:                  

Pay range:      

Orbital Tube Welder/Level 3: $30.00 - $38.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential           Orbital Tube Welder/Level 4: $35.00 - $43.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential           Orbital Tube Welder/Level 5: $40.00 - $50.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential           

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
