Lead Product Designer, Operations
đLondon | đ° ÂŁ90,000.00 - ÂŁ105,000.00 + Benefits | Hear from the team â¨
About us:
Weâre here to make money work for everyone and we're doing things differently. For too long, banking has been obtuse, complex and opaque.
We want to change that and build a bank with everyone, for everyone. Our amazing community suggests features, test the app and give us constant feedback so we can build something everyone loves. We're focused on solving problems, rather than selling financial products. We want to make the world a better place and change people's lives through Monzo.
About Ops Design:
Youâll be part of Ops Design, currently a team of 2 designers and 2 researchers in our Operations Collective.
Ops is all about solving customer problems, whether theyâre big or small. Our best design approach is to be proactive enough to prevent problems in the first place. But when they do occur (everyone needs help from time to time), we want Monzo to be as simple and as fast at resolving them as possible.
As a designer in Ops, youâll have the opportunity to work end to end across both our apps and internal tooling to support customers and COps (our brilliant customer care teams) on a broad range of problems. Youâll work closely with other collectives such as Financial Health, Financial Crime, Vulnerability, Accessibility, Inclusion and Bereavements, and the broader User Research and Design disciplines.
Your work will help millions of customers get the help they need when they need it and uphold the core Monzo value of making money work for everyone.
What youâll be working on:
- Design where you can have the most impact. Whether thatâs at the top of the funnel in our customer apps or further downstream in our internal tools.
- Own discovery and vision. Ops and all of Monzo value design and research at all phases of the product process. But most of all in setting a vision and in early phases such as discovery, research, proposal writing and documentation. Youâll have direct access to guiding the roadmap and collaborating with squad leads.
- Contribute to our design systems and evolve the look and feel of our mobile and web products.
- Prototype, test, and iterate for usability, accessibility, and impact. Benefit from a rich set of qualitative and quantitative insights. Design closely to data and influence our data model.
- Collaborate with a broad range of people: PMs, Data Scientists, Engineers, Operational Change and Process Owners, Real Time Analysts, and more!
Your day-to-day
As in all areas of Monzo, youâll have many ways to find and define your impact (have a look at how Alex celebrated his 2 year milestone, for instance). There is no right way or wrong way to be a Monzonaut. But here are a few things you might focus on day-to-day:
- Stand-up with your squad.
- Sync with a Brand Designer or Content Writer on an upcoming project that could use their support.
- 1-1 with an Engineering Manager.
- Focus time.
- Running a workshop.
- Creating an emoji based on a funny joke someone made in Slack.
You should apply if:
- You like solving complex customer problems that will make peoplesâ lives meaningfully better.
- Enjoy working with a broad range of people in many different types of roles.
- Are confident designing for both apps and web. Or have strong experience in one and want to better balance your experience with the other.
- Appreciate user testing as well as quantitative research and data.
- You like Monzo and want to help us build a bank that works for everyone.
The interview process:
Our interview process involves 3 main stages:
