The Strategic Core Analyst sits at the center of the Competitive Intelligence (CI) function, serving as the executive-facing arm of the team. In this role, you will be responsible for our highest-leverage deliverables, synthesizing competitive signals, market intelligence, and product insights into clear, actionable guidance for leadership.

We are looking for a strategist with deep database experience (specifically with relational databases and PostgreSQL) who can translate technical tradeoffs into executive and GTM judgment. You will move beyond simple reporting to provide high-judgment work, including threat assessments, priority deal support, and strategic recommendations that shape our competitive narrative.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Dublin for our hybrid working model.

What You’ll Do
  • Strategic Synthesis & Executive Guidance: Synthesize inputs from Market Intelligence, Win/Loss analysis, and field signals to create executive-ready narratives, eStaff memos, and decision-support materials
  • High-Impact Deal Support: Partner with Sales leadership on priority and executive involvement deals, providing tailored competitive positioning, objection handling, and deal-time advisory
  • Threat Monitoring & Response: Rapidly assess and respond to major competitor launches, pricing changes, and positioning shifts, producing immediate threat briefs and escalation reports
  • Competitive Assets & Narrative: Build and maintain high-value assets such as Product 360s, battlecards, and competitive playbooks that explain why we win or lose
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Work closely with Product, PMM, and Finance to ensure CI findings are actively incorporated into roadmap planning, GTM execution, and executive strategy
  • Analyst Relations Support: Engage with firms such as Gartner and Forrester by providing validated competitive context and assisting in the synthesis of evidence-based insights
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience: 3-6+ years of experience in Competitive Intelligence, Product Marketing, Strategy, Consulting, Database Administrator (DBA), or Data Engineering
  • Deep Database Knowledge: You have strong domain knowledge of the data platform landscape, specifically with PostgreSQL or other relational databases. You can explain the technical tradeoffs of PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and MongoDB without notes
  • Executive Communication: You possess excellent written communication skills, with a focus on structured, memo-style writing that emphasizes clarity and brevity for senior leadership
  • Technical Translation: You can clearly explain complex technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders. You have a rare ability to translate database internals into business impact. You can explain why a B-Tree limitation matters to a CRO or a CIO
  • Action-Oriented Judgement: You are comfortable taking a point of view and defending it. You go beyond reporting the news to explaining implications and recommending actions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience using, managing, or competing against PostgreSQL
  • Experience working at PostgreSQL-centric companies (e.g. EDB, Crunchy Data, Timescale, Supabase) or on Cloud Database teams (AWS Aurora, Google Cloud SQL, Azure Data)
  • Familiarity with cloud-managed database services (AWS RDS, Aurora, Cloud SQL) and associated operational considerations
  • Experience supporting enterprise sales cycles or strategic deals involving technical buyers
  • Previous experience interacting with industry analysts (Gartner/Forrester) in infrastructure or data categories
