The TechOps PMO is responsible for facilitating TechOps strategic priorities by enabling efficient delivery of technology solutions to meet stakeholder needs.  We enable TechOps to be a collaborative, trusted partner, providing superior technology services to our company and enabling our internal systems to be a source of competitive advantage.  

As a Lead of Technical Program Management, you will support the delivery of technology solutions in accordance with established standards and frameworks for your aligned TechOps functional areas (Pillars + Departments).  In addition, you will lead a team of Technical Program Managers who are responsible for managing technically complex projects and programs for aligned pillars.  You will serve as a thought leader, player-coach, mentor, and evangelist for PPM efficiency and best practices to the TechOps PMO and TechOps partner teams.   The right candidate for this role will:
  • Have experience with 7-10  years working in a PMO or engineering organization, whether in project/program management delivery, support, or an analytics role

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a people leader

  • Able to maintain a strategic view of our project, program, and portfolio management processes even while executing on the minutiae of everyday task management

  • Expert at communicating across a diverse set of technical resources and stakeholders across both TechOps and the business

  • Hyper-organized and capable of juggling all of the data and management activities associated with projects and task-tracking

  • Leader in implementing agile/Scrum best practices as well as project, program, and portfolio management best practices (e.g. PMBOK)

  • Inspired to identify and innovate in areas where automation can replace manual work

  • Driven by an attuned sense of priority and urgency

  • Able to appreciate the engineering concepts being discussed, allowing them to facilitate discussion and flesh out the details required to ensure successful delivery.

  • Strong experience in working with project and portfolio management tools (e.g. JIRA, Smartsheet, Asana, Monday.com, MS Project)  

  • Strong experience managing complex projects end-to-end and leading technically complex initiatives

  • Strong experience working with cross-functional teams

  • Proven leadership and strong executive presence  

  • Proven success in delivering technical, complex cross-functional projects across the business and IT

  • Experienced in gathering process pain points from team members and stakeholders and devising improvements to address them

  • Experienced with managing large, complex technology-enabled projects supporting data engineering, security engineering, systems/platform/infrastructure engineering, and more

  • Interested in learning everything about MongoDB

Position Expectations:
  • Manage a team of technical program managers and support them in unblocking risks, issues, and other escalations that impact program success

  • Own stakeholder relationships with both your TechOps partner team leads and in the business

  • Stand up and manage new kinds of projects which challenge current engineering norms/processes due to team makeup, goals, and deliverables.

  • Lead portfolio management and planning activities for your TechOps partner teams and business stakeholders

  • Partner with stakeholders to stand up and manage the transition into new processes and/or tooling to enhance/support project delivery across business units.

  • Help define strategies and philosophies of project and portfolio management for our teams and projects

  • Serve as an evangelist for PPM transformation and continuous improvement

  • Skilled in strategy alignment, business value realization, and program risk management

  • Facilitate communication with other MongoDB engineering teams to ensure that all roadmaps are aligned

  • Recognize patterns in a sea of information and take action accordingly

  • PMP certification strongly preferred

Success Measures:
  • In 3 months you’ll have fully ramped up on TechOps PMO processes, learned your team’s project portfolios, and built relationships with key partners and stakeholders

  • In 6 months you’ll have taken complete ownership of executing, driving, and leading those processes and supporting your delivery teams and business stakeholders

  • In 12 months you’ll have taken a leadership role in identifying areas for process improvement across the TechOps PMO team and TechOps as a whole

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:$118,000—$231,000 USD
