The Role: How you'll make an impact at Personio

This position can be hybrid office-based from one of the following countries: Germany, Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, or the UK.

Bring your knowledge. Be a partner. Join our Finance, Strategy, & Legal team and use your subject-matter expertise to investigate problems, define solutions, and guide decisions as Personio’s co-pilots.

To support us on this journey and fuel our growth, we are looking for a Legal Counsel with Commercial focus. As such, you will provide commercial legal support primarily to the DACH region, as well as across other regions.

Role Responsibilities: What you'll do

  • Responsible for various legal-related matters involved in selling our software, with a focus on supporting the Go-To-Market and Growth teams.
  • Support the business teams on legal issues and risks, business strategies, deal structures, approval process and other issues related to SaaS arrangements.
  • Collaborate and contribute with other internal teams to the development of procedures and guidelines to align with legal requirements and industry best practices.
  • Review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements and documents (SaaS terms, DPA, NDA, Partner agreements and RFPs, bonus points for EVB-IT) to support our sales and customer experience teams in collaboration with internal business stakeholders.
  • Manage legal aspects of disputes or conflicts that may arise, seeking resolutions through negotiation or other appropriate means.
  • Support and work on wider projects and initiatives, including training, development and maintaining guidance documents, CLM tool management and staying up-to-date on relevant legislation and regulations in our industry.

Role Requirements: What you need to succeed

  • A fully qualified German lawyer (with both state exams or a bachelor and master’s degree in law).
  • 4+ years post qualification legal experience (preferably in a technology company) with experience supporting a high volume sales organisation with commercial contracting matters;
  • A flexible self-starter and proactive problem solver who can work autonomously and handle significant customer contact.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills are essential. Ability to clearly present information, respond to questions from customers and internal stakeholders, with focus on pragmatic solutions.
  • Able to manage conflicting demands from multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong negotiator with proven track record in supporting a sales organisation and in negotiating a wide array of commercial agreements, including DPA, SaaS subscription and licensing agreements;
  • Fluent written and spoken German and English skills; Spanish or further European languages are a plus.
