Excellent opportunity to join Betsson Group as our new Legal Counsel for Latam.

Your role as a member of the Betsson Group Legal Team will involve working closely with the rest of the organisation, providing practical and commercially focused legal advice and support to assigned business functions or teams. You will be reviewing/ negotiating contracts, managing litigation, interpreting legal requirements, providing counselling on substantive legal issues, and effectively communicating these to the business and external stakeholders. You will also handle legal projects and transactions. You will be working closely with the rest of the Legal Team and will provide support to the Compliance team and rest of the business, particularly the Commercial teams with a focus on labour, corporate, commercial, and intellectual property matters, as well as other areas as needed.

International travel may be required. You will be based in Bogota, Colombia, and report to the Legal Business Partner for the Latam Region (Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Chile and Argentina).

A flavour of what you'll be doing

• Advising and counselling the organisation on various legal matters and complex projects;
• Identifying legal issues, providing analysis of legal risks and creating and implementing solutions structured to achieve business objectives efficiently;
• Raising business’ awareness of legal issues and ensure early legal involvement;
• Acting as legal counsel to the organization in all activities relating to the contractual negotiations, labour affairs and statutory obligations;
• Partnering closely with the rest of the organisation and taking responsibility for independently structuring, reviewing and drafting of a variety of complex transactions and contracts related to commercial, gaming and betting affairs as well as other documents involving Betsson Group’s operations;
• Negotiating directly with commercial, gaming and betting providers on drafting contracts and ongoing contracts management;
• Providing other ad hoc assistance, where necessary, including in respect of commercial negotiations with other service providers;
• Substantiating recommendations and advise on appropriate actions to support the management decision processes;
• Managing disputes and litigation and/or investigations, and making operational decisions independently;
• Providing training in different relevant legal topics to key internal stakeholders;
• Training and supporting more junior lawyers, paralegals and support staff within the team;

You're good at

• You are a qualified lawyer (law degree/post-grad from a reputable university) with 5+ years of work experience, either with a reputable consultancy/law firm or as in-house counsel for multinational companies;
• Providing practical guidance to international businesses, project management and handling complex legal issues and you can demonstrate experience in this;
• Negotiating, drafting and closing complex commercial transactions and providing quick, concise, and practical legal advice and to problem-solve as pro-actively and commercially aggressively as possible;
• Understanding of both the Legal and Compliance view toward risk and regulatory issues;
• Adapting to a fast-paced and pressurized environment, with an ability to act decisively; you are a self-sufficient individual with excellent interpersonal skills, as well as able to work in a tightly knit team supporting others when needed;
• Proficiency in English – excellent command of both written and spoken, outstanding communication skills.

Extra Awesome:

• Other languages are a plus.
• LL.M. in Commercial and/or Corporate Law.
• Additional experience in the IT, E-Commerce, and/or online gaming sector.
