Manager, Accounting

We are looking for a proactive, highly motivated, and technically savvy Manager, Accounting to join our accounting organization!  

Reporting directly to the Director, Accounting, the Manager, Accounting will own critical OPEX accounting processes: intercompany, foreign currency, payroll and commissions accounting, and lead a team of accountants.  You will provide leadership to and develop direct reports and will regularly work cross-functionally with other Fastly finance and business teams, such as Tax, Payroll, Sales Compensation, Business Systems and Legal.

The Manager, Accounting will also be the primary business partner for certain controllership-wide accounting systems, including FloQast and specific NetSuite modules, owning day-to-day functionality and issue resolution and partnering with the Business Systems team to implement new features and develop/deliver team-wide training on those features.  The Manager, Accounting will also oversee established cross-team processes, including international subsidiary statutory reporting deliverables and month-end close.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and develop the OPEX Corporate Accounting team of 2-3 Senior Accountants responsible for intercompany, foreign currency, payroll, benefits and commissions accounting processes, both in and outside of close
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting, both through team management and working cross functionally with other Fastly teams
  • Oversee the international subsidiary statutory financial reporting deliverables, working effectively with Tax and Legal to successfully complete annual filings on time
  • Maintain day-to-day functionality of controllership-wide accounting systems, such as FloQast and specific NetSuite modules, including task assignments, chart of account and financial report maintenance and issue escalation/resolution with the BSYS team
  • Drive execution and team-wide training of identified system enhancements for controllership-wide accounting systems, including FloQast and specific NetSuite modules
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures and SOX controls through detailed review of journal entries, account reconciliations, key controls and monthly/quarterly flux analysis
  • Identify potential SOX impacts from proposed process and systems changes in assigned areas, partnering with Internal Audit to update documentation including process flowcharts and risk and control matrix
  • Assist SEC Reporting team with 10-Q/K footnote reviews and annual accounting policy and convention updates for assigned areas
  • Identify, propose and drive process and efficiency improvements to month-end close process and other accounting processes
  • Other ad hoc projects as needed

What We're Looking For: 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 7+ years progressive accounting experience, including experience in a manager-level leadership role at a publicly traded company
  • Experience with intercompany, foreign currency and consolidations accounting
  • Experience overseeing international statutory reporting and filings
  • Finance transformation and/or system implementation experience
  • Cross-team project management experience
  • Ability to think strategically, build cross-functional relationships, and take initiative to drive results
  • Passionate about leading and developing teams
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these: 

  • Audit experience and CPA
  • Big 4 experience
  • Experience with NetSuite, FloQast, Coupa, Gappify and G-Suite
  • PMP or Six Sigma certification

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is $133,200 - $166,500.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
