The Data Warehouse team builds foundational datasets to drive critical business decision-making and reporting. To accomplish this, we’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who will lead a team of talented engineers to build both batch and realtime data pipelines and toolings. You will work with big data technologies to build foundational datasets that will power the data needs of Pinterest engineers, data analysts, product managers, data scientists, machine learning, business operations, finance, and more. You will work closely with teams and stakeholders around the world, including San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Toronto, and Dublin.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a team of talented data engineers primarily based in San Francisco Bay Area
  • Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of team members
  • Oversee the creation, evolution, and maintenance of foundational datasets used for analytics, reporting, and machine learning
  • Collaborate with cross-functional product and engineering teams to understand the changing requirements and incorporate them in the roadmap
  • Work with remote engineering teams and stakeholders around the world

 

What we’re looking for:

  • 2+ years of Engineering Manager experience
  • Enjoying working in an agile environment
  • Strong communication, people development and software project management skills
  • Big Data (petabytes scale) and Data Warehousing background
  • Data Engineering experience (e.g. Python, Java, SQL, Workflow, Spark, Hive)
  • Ability to work with distributed teams across multiple time zones and to maintain those relationships

In-Office Requirement Statement

  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times every 6-months and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.

Final salary is based on a number of factors including location, travel, relevant prior experience, or particular skills and expertise.
