As the Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for development of hardware platforms, managing a team of mechanical engineers, and working with other engineering teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop the mechanical components of our next generation of POS devices and subsystems.
  • Develop part designs and mechanical systems from concept to production. 
  • Enable and mentor mechanical engineers on your team and grow them professionally
  • Manage engineering relationships with manufacturing partners
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver world class devices. 
  • Understand the restaurant environment and design products to survive it.
  • Root-cause various issues (design, manufacturability, production) to optimize designs to successfully take products to mass production. 
  • Design for function, reliability, human factors, manufacturability, and cosmetic requirements.
  • Support reliability issues related to products that are in the field and being used by our customers.

 

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • BS degree in mechanical engineering
  • 10+ years of experience developing smartphone or handheld devices
  • 3+ years experience managing engineering teams
  • Experience with mechanical design and manufacturing processes, such as plastic, glass, rubber, metal components, PCBs/FPCBs, soft goods and opto-electronic physical designs used in electronic products. 
  • Experience with decorating technologies like painting, anodization, plating, printing and coatings.
  • Experience with part/tool qualification.
  • Hands-on, real-world troubleshooting experience (root-cause analysis, 8D reports, corrective actions, etc)
  • Experience with building strategic partnerships and working day to day with manufacturing suppliers
  • A bias towards action, with the ability to balance between getting things done and making things perfect
  • Experience in a rapidly growing business and identifying opportunities as the business evolves over time.  
  • Experience working with remote teams residing in multiple time zones.
