MANAGER, QUALITY ASSURANCE

The Manager, Quality Assurance will lead a team of broadly skilled and specialized inspectors, while balancing the twin requirements of improving product reliability and optimizing inspection requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive improved reliability, quality, and risk reduction relative to inspection and quality processes
  • Work with build reliability/launch engineers and specialists to identify opportunities for inspection automation/efficiency and improve robustness
  • Establish departmental quality metrics, and drive improvement
  • Set clear/achievable goals, and hold team members accountable for execution and continuous improvement in their area of ownership
  • Use continuous improvement to upgrade the production controls we have in place, and minimize the probability of errors
  • Use quantitative tools to verify the effectiveness of process changes, and use that data to scale solutions for the entire company
  • Work with launch team to improve workmanship errors
  • Conduct independent audit of production, and manage internal/external audits
  • Manage scheduling and headcount requirements of inspection team across all work centers
  • Identify and setup training programs; maintain training matrix to ensure cross-training maximizes resource availability

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or 4+ years of technician/inspection experience in a manufacturing environment 
  • 1+ years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports

PERFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Experience with quality tools including root cause and corrective action, QMS and process auditing, and statistical analysis of quality metrics
  • Graduate degree in a technical or management field
  • Experience communicating, team building, and influencing at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work in a fast paced/cross-functional environment
  • Experience establishing priorities, working independently, and leading continuous improvement initiatives
  • Possess an ASQ certification (CQM, CQE) and/or be a RAB certified/trained auditor
  • Experience using NDE methods and testing equipment
  • Experience as a nondestructive evaluation/testing inspector
  • Possess the American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel to the various SpaceX sites - up to 10%
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Ability to pass Space Force background check for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Manager, Quality Assurance/Manager: $130,000.00 - $180,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
