We are looking for the thought leader and technical expert in the particular vertical (e.g., Financial Services, Telecommunications) to join the CXO Advisory team. This part of the industry solutions organization is a fast-growing, globally-dispersed team working in an exciting space with nearly limitless opportunities of growth! Our team’s members are the experienced practitioners and experts and work directly with the C-Suite of our clients around the application modernization and related strategies and at the same time, be able to work with customer developers and talk their language.
The Application Modernization Advisory team is the MongoDB expert community delivering thought leadership and practical directions for the legacy modernization and innovation of application stacks. This is NOT limited to database interactions but a holistic end to end view based on the experiences of the MongoDB team, including the full application stack. Generative AI is playing a key part in that - not only as a tool for modernization of legacy systems but turning a development organization towards the next challenges. The individual equally engages with clients and continues to evolve the approaches and concepts at the same time. The focus is on support for a well defined group of global enterprise clients that are closely aligned to the MongoDB Strategy. The team is very hands-on and the responsibilities range from supporting executive sales conversations, developing sales materials and training sales representatives and the wider sales community, advising customers on modernization strategies to providing senior leadership for individual modernization pilots and programs. At times, to ensure the success of customer projects, it will be necessary to dive into code to help provide technical direction. Superb communication skills including presentation skills are a paramount prerequisite. Past experience in software development and management of software is also required.
You'll work closely with a broad variety of functions inside the whole company, including sales,, professional services, product, and marketing. You will play a key role in winning deals and driving the business forward and will be a trusted advisor to a wide range of clients. The location for this role is quite flexible but needs to be in the New York region.
As an ideal candidate, you will have- 20+ years in a particular vertical (e.g., Financial Services, Telecommunications) in multiple areas (e.g,, for financial services,.Application Development “Change the bank”, PTS, Risk & Treasury, Retail, Wealth management, commercial banking, Credit card operations and/or other areas)
- 15+ years of software development and architecture experience
- 10+ years of IT management experience including leading a development organization
- Deep experience working with various database products, ETL tools and related as well as database modeling and design
- Experience in transformation legacy environments (with backends such as Mainframe, DB2, Oracle PL/SQL) to modern microservice architectures
- Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to visualize and communicate complex information to all levels of an organization - both internally and externally
- Experience with scalable and highly available distributed systems
- Ability to discuss a broad range of data technologies ( non linear list: RDBMS, Java, document, key-value, unstructured, NoSQL, ISM.)
- The ability to travel up to 50% for clients, events, and the occasional team meetup
- Entrepreneurial spirit to work in a cross functional organization and getting things done
- MongoDB Certifications
- Cloud vendors Certifications in related fields
- Additional language skills in other languages (Conversational is appropriate)

- Create buy-in into Modernization Factory
- Advising customers on their transformation strategy
- Design pilots for generative AI augmented transformations
- You partner with our sales team to help ensure success in accounts that are embarking on modernization programs
- You present MongoDB’s position at various events - either in person or digital
- You help oversee and drive customer project delivery teams to success, able to detect and foresee technical problems and provide technical direction to resolve
- You are tightly aligned with our product management organization and communicate requirements from the field requirements to the product management leadership
- You demonstrate resilience and sound judgment in dealing with business challenges and are able to guide more junior colleagues to success
- You proactively seek opportunities to enable other parts of the MongoDB organization on modernization projects and programs

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.
MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:$160,000—$315,000 USD
