Are you ready to be at the forefront of revolutionizing air mobility? As we embark on the exciting journey towards serial production of our groundbreaking Lilium jet, we are seeking an ambitious and skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our world-class product team focused on battery assembly.  

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing Engineering for Product, you will work proactively with product design engineering teams to ensure design-for-manufacture.

Taking ownership of systems component production to drive our unique aircraft assembly line, defining, and assuring aviation-level supplier quality.

Your Day to Day:

  • Drive Design-for-Manufacture, Design-for-Scale and Design-to-Value for battery assembly.
  • Drive capability acquisition of new technologies, systems, and factories to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing process
  • Collaborate closely with our Engineering and Quality teams to develop, manage, and grow the value stream and supply chain for the Energy system
  • Proactively drive the delivery of the Lilium jet’s state-of-the-art battery pack on time, on cost, on quality 
  • Collaborate with system engineering, CAD designers, and technicians on the shop floor, gathering feedback on the manufacturability of designs and making make-or-buy decisions
  • Act as the resident subject matter expert for battery assembly and spearhead the establishment of pilot production stations to develop stable production processes and prove rate capability.
  • Determine the necessary production capacities in response to process and design changes, ensuring optimal resource utilization
  • Proactively initiate change requests to the design team, facilitating the achievement of high-rate and cost-effective manufacturing goals

About you:

Interacting daily with a variety of technical audiences, you will be comfortable working in cross-functional teams, developing and nurturing excellent relationships.

You have demonstrated impact in design for manufacturing activities and will show an eye for simplification, continuous improvement, and consciousness of health & safety factors.

Key requirements:   

  • Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree
  • Proven work experience in manufacturing or new product introduction (NPI) in the field of battery assembly.
  • CAD know-how desired
  • Knowledge of battery systems, particularly Li-ion batteries is a plus
  • Experience in safety-critical industries (e.g., automotive, aviation, healthcare, military, etc.) is required
  • Demonstrated expertise in Energy systems fundamental principles, design, fabrication, and safe handling in high-volume and/or rapid-growth operational environments.
  • Experience in supplier coordination and change management implementation in supplier scope.
