Role Description

MongoDB is growing its Strategic Marketing function to help drive significant business growth in our top accounts, globally. Join the rapidly growing team of account-based marketing and industry marketing rockstars to apply your business leadership and marketing acumen in managing targeted and/or verticalized marketing programs (including significant business scope and budget) to drive monumental growth for your book of accounts and the company as a whole. 

Ideal Candidate Profile

Our new Strategic Marketing Manager for Developer Advocacy Programs will be expected to conceive, build, and execute a robust marketing strategy that focuses on developer education and user group expansion within our top 750 growth accounts. This individual will design, execute, measure, and fully integrate a robust marketing strategy aligning our Developer Relations function to high potential use cases and developer hubs across groups of regional accounts. All initiatives will align both to Strategic Marketing goals and the needs of specific accounts or clusters of accounts, while also addressing the goals of our Developer Relations team. This individual must, thus, be highly adept at juggling multiple stakeholders, multiple projects, and making data-driven decisions that optimize resources and programming where we have the highest potential. Through deep campaign analysis and sales intel, this individual will make key decisions about programs that directly impact executed programs. The role will report into the Director of Strategic Marketing. impact NWL identification and progression, cross-functional goals, as well as identify trending areas for enablement across broader developer groups. 

This individual must be highly organized in order to manage multiple programs simultaneously, coordinate functions and time zones, and keep a well documented analysis to report on revenue generation, user group expansion, and overall business

Candidate Profile 

Our ideal candidate for this role will have the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of product marketing, developer relations marketing, or account-based marketing experience
  • Tech company experience a plus
  • Experience balancing multiple programs and internal stakeholders
  • Highly results-driven with strong analytical capabilities 
  • Experience working cross functionally with enterprise or corporate sales, customer success teams and account development teams preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Strong project management and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Salesforce
  • Familiarity with Marketing Automation and Data systems
  • 6sense, Eloqua, Pathfactory, Turtl, Tableau experience a plus
  • Time management, prioritization, and organizational skills are key
  • Ability to shift priorities is critical in a growth technology company  
  • Team ethos is made up of good humor, a positive can-do attitude, yet ruthless in your approach and incorporates MongoDB values in your practice regularly.
  • Travel required

Position Expectations

  • In close collaboration with the Director of Strategic Marketing and your peers, you will build our Strategic Developer Relations Marketing plan for growth and acquisition accounts and all underlying programs
  • Analyze past and current DevRel deployments to understand high potential tactics, ideal persona and LOB targeting within accounts, and metrics that matter to your campaigns
  • Understand the needs of developers and application development teams within our accounts to ensure marketing communications attract targeted users, personas, and LOBs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams when creating new and updating existing materials, presentations and/or preparing for marketing activations
  • Ensure performance and ROI are tracked, and support processes set up to effectively measure outcomes

Success Measures

The Strategic Marketing Manager will be successful in this role when they can execute the following strategic tasks/responsibilities:

  • In 3 months you’ll have fostered an understanding of the Strategic Marketing and Developer Relations teams, and identified and mapped shared priorities, opportunities, and current program needs . You will be rigorously building your MongoDB product knowledge. 
  • In 6 months you’ll have a clear understanding of your key objectives, have planned and executed marketing activities with account expansion influence, and have started to become a trusted partner to DevRel and Field Marketing. You will be able to speak to the power of the product and the power of DevRel programs
  • In 12 months you’ll have cemented yourself as a DevRel programs rockstar, and will be thinking strategically about repeatable successes, scale, the marketing ecosystem, and developer needs. You will be excited about new product features and the future of your role.

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:$70,000—$138,000 USD
