Job Summary:The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, procurement, storage, control, anddistribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements. This role plays acritical part in ensuring timely and cost-effective material availability to support manufacturing and operationalgoals while minimizing inventory costs and optimizing space and resources.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and manage material planning strategies to ensure timely availability of raw materials,components, and finished goods for production and customer demand. Monitor and control inventory levels to achieve target turns, reduce excess and obsolete (E&O)inventory, and support cash flow objectives. Supervise and lead the materials team including material planners, inventory analysts, warehousepersonnel, and logistics staff. Work closely with Procurement, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Sales teams to coordinatematerial needs for ongoing production, NPI (New Product Introduction), and engineering changes. Develop and maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and ensure ERP/MRP systems are kept up todate with correct material data. Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy, space utilization, lead timereduction, and supply chain visibility. Establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with suppliers, internal stakeholders,and logistics partners. Develop and track performance metrics (KPIs) related to inventory accuracy, material availability,inventory turns, and supplier delivery performance. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations (e.g., ISO, FDA,OSHA if applicable). Coordinate material movement between warehouses, production lines, and 3PL providers to supportjust-in-time (JIT) manufacturing and lean initiatives. Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for inventory discrepancies, material shortages, or latedeliveries. Participate in S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) and capacity planning processes.
Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field. APICS/CPIM/CSCP certification preferred.Experience:
5–8 years of experience in materials management or supply chain roles, preferably in a manufacturingenvironment. Demonstrated success managing inventory, materials planning, and supply processes. Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.).Skills: Strong leadership and team development skills. Excellent analytical and organizational abilities. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related planning tools. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
