NETWORK INFRASTRUCUTRE ENGINEER (STARLINK)

One of the most ambitious missions that SpaceX has undertaken to date, the Starlink satellite constellation is our solution to providing reliable internet to the entire world. We are looking for a talented network infrastructure engineer who will be in charge of building and activating newly deployed ground stations and points of presence to support our global network growth. You will be part of a team that connects our satellite constellation to the internet and brings connectivity to the un-connected and the poorly connected regions of the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build, manage and expand network interconnections and infrastructure between ground stations (gateways) and points of presence (PoP), including turning up new circuits
  • Travel to new deployment sites to bring up network infrastructure (e.g. including rack and stacking), compute and connectivity
  • Solve technical and operational issues with circuit’s vendors
  • Assist in configuration deployments and upgrading network operating systems
  • Manage and document assets inventory for network deployments

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of professional hands-on experience operating large scale networks
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying (Rack & Stack) Enterprise IT or Service Provider equipment (servers, networking equipment, routers, switches, cooling units, cables, cable management trays, etc..)
  • Experience turning up new circuits

 PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering discipline
  • Familiarity with service provider networks including but not limited to:
    • Connectivity (Ethernet, WDM, IPv4 and IPv6)
    • Switching (MPLS, QinQ)
    • Routing (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS)
    • Internet services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, etc.)
  • Experience with hands-on work in bringing up network infrastructure
  • Experience with troubleshooting network hardware and servers.
  • Experience working with network operations and data center environments.
  • Experience creating documentation and procedures
  • Experience with Python and/or bash scripting 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to travel domestically and globally as needed
  • Must be available for on-call rotations

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:    

Pay Range:    Network Engineer/Level I: $120,000.00 - $145,000.00/per year    Network Engineer/Level II: $140,000.00 - $170,000.00/per year      

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
