About Us

At Modulr our mission is to move money efficiently to power business productivity. We are building a new digital payments service to make money flow more efficiently through businesses and the economy. This is a new type of payments account that is built for businesses that need faster, easier and more reliable ways to move money.

Our flexible platform and innovate approach allows our customers to utilise our payments account instead of a traditional bank account. Our accounts come with a sort code and account number, access to payment systems (eg Faster Payments and Visa) and everything our customers need from a payments account. They can instantly open as many accounts as they need, automate how they make and receive payments as well as the reconciliation processes these create. All in real time, 24/7 through their own systems utilising our API that integrates into any platform.

Our founding team has a wealth of experience in the payments industry and growing successful businesses. Modulr is backed by payments giants PayPal Ventures and FIS Ventures, as well as startup and scale up specialists Blenheim Chalcot, General Atlantic, Frog and Highland Europe which enables us to leverage their resources and expertise to drive our growth initiatives. These partnerships provide us with the necessary provisions to propel our business to new heights.

Modulr values

  • Building the extraordinary and going that extra mile
  • Owning the opportunity, be passionate and proud of the time you invest
  • Move at pace, reach your goals faster with us supporting you each step of the way
  • Achieve it together, working as a team and being Modulite

The Role

Key responsibilities

Modulr’s embedded payments business model enables Modulr’s regulated emoney accounts and payment services to be delivered to customers through various routes.  In some instances Modulr delivers services directly to customers; in others the services are delivered through Partners.  These Partners embed the services into their own products and Modulr outsources various critical activities to them.  In the UK these Partners may be registered with the FCA as Agents or Distributors.

The role of the Partner Oversight team is to oversee the activities of these Partners, ranging from how they promote their services and deliver against Consumer Duty requirements, through to their performance of outsourced AML and financial crime controls such as KYC and Transaction Monitoring, to understanding their business plans and financial viability.  It is a broad and complex activity which requires a strong understanding of Compliance (beyond just AML matters), the ability to build and manage client relationships, the ability to work collaboratively with many other teams within Modulr, and a mindset of curiosity and ability to understand a Partner’s business model and think about the implications of that where they are operating under Modulr’s license.

The Partner Oversight Manager is a Senior Individual Contributor role, which sits alongside the two Partner Oversight Team Leads and reports into the Head of Partner Oversight.  The purpose of the Partner Oversight Manager role is to support the whole team, providing expertise and inputting in the handling of complex cases and client escalations.  The Partner Oversight Manager will also work with the Team Leads on the Quality Assurance of the activities and feed in to the training and development of the team, ensuring their understanding and skills are being constantly developed given the breadth of the Partner Oversight activity.

The Partner Oversight function within Modulr is going through a phase of significant growth and development.  This is a great opportunity for someone to help shape and deliver a market leading proposition, in a unique, varied, complex and challenging role.

Specific duties

Depending on the project, you will need to be comfortable doing the following:

  • Supporting the team with complex customer cases and queries, coaching, and mentoring the team as to how to approach these and engaging directly with Partners where necessary.
  • Building strong relationships with key Partners to help achieve positive outcomes as well as supporting the team in communicating clearly where they are not delivering on requirements.
  • Identifying and delivering opportunities for continuous improvement in the Oversight function, for example through training, tooling and improved processes.
  • Working with other internal Modulr teams to maintain a strong control environment and deliver a co-ordinated experience for our Partners.
  • Formalising compliance policies and procedures.
  • Advising the team on the changing regulatory landscape.
  • Training and quality assurance management.
  • Internal reporting into Governance committees and regulatory updates.
  • Working closely with the Head of Oversight to ensure smooth running of the function.
