This role in a nutshell:

Pay as you go Energy, or PAYGO is a key part of the OVO Energy business. Simply put, it’s the way that many of our customers choose to pay for their Energy, in advance by ‘topping up’ their meter. The PAYGO Value Stream team operates across our enterprise to develop this 750,000 customer, £1.4bn turnover business. 

There are three elements to our mission: 1 Safeguard and protect our customers, 2 Simplify the business, 3 Improve value to OVO. The policy, standards and assurance manager will play a vital role in making sure that we’re exemplars in safeguarding customers and fulfilling our legal and voluntary commitments.

You will be joining at a key time for OVO’s pay as you go energy business. We’re on the journey to simplify and transform the business, but there’s still lots to do.

 

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Assist the senior policy manager to develop our 2 - 3 year strategy to reduce and control customer and reputational risk across all PAYGO touchpoints
  • Understand all relevant PAYGO regulation and commitments that OVO has signed up to
  • Agree processes to achieve clear audit trails to demonstrate alignment to policy and standards 
  • Build and refine appropriate governance mechanisms, to hold all relevant functions to account for performance to policy

Within your first 6 months month you’ll:

  • Develop deep subject matter expertise in all licence, legal and voluntary commitment relevant to PAYGO
  • Develop and maintain policies and standards that express our interpretation of all commitments, ensuring that these are relevant and available at all times
  • Agree a clear framework across OVO to show who is responsible for for fulfilling relevant commitments
  • In conjunction with operational owners for all PAYGO functions, ensure that training, work instructions and quality assurance processes are aligned to PAYGO policies and standards
  • Provide regular assurance mechanisms, to provide robust evidence that working practice is in line with commitments, or corrective action will be taken and tracked for effectiveness
  • Liaise with and support regulatory, compliance and legal teams when required to respond to investigations
  • Capture and report on high level risks across PAYGO and report into existing business processes inc Hyperproof and risk committee

 

You’ll be a successful PAYGO Monitoring, Standards and  Assurance Manager here at OVO if you…

  • Have experience at defining policy, standards and assurance frameworks and embedding these into an organisation at scale
  • Ideally have some experience of Energy supplier regulation, or can demonstrate operating in a similar environment at a senior level
  • Have experience of dealing with regulatory and consumer bodies, including managing through regulatory enquiries 
  • Are inquisitive and happy to both deep dive into a subject, but can also see the big picture opportunities
  • Like the opportunity to shape the current approach to deliver an even better result over coming months
  • Can understand how to balance assurance with customer and business requirements 
  • Love to collaborate and influence across multiple functions and stakeholders, you can lead without direct control
  • Can articulate the benefit of strong assurance in broad terms that appeals to multiple stakeholders in a highly commercial environment

We’ll pay you between £46,000 and £65,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
