We call it Monzo Magic. Mission. Action. Growth. Inclusion. Care. It runs through everything that we do and within the People Collective it’s how we set Monzo up for success by bringing mission led people together to do work and banking differently. We foster a culture that centres on our customers and brings together the best of tech with the best of banking. We empower a diverse, high performing, innovative and agile workforce in doing the most impactful work of their careers to date. It’s an ambitious task to scale this culture and ways of working, but it’s a mission we’re committed to.

We are looking for an experienced, independent individual to come to Monzo and support us to scale our payroll operations as we think about the UK and beyond. We have payrolls across seven countries, nearly 4,000 members of staff and a commitment to a high performance bar when it comes to our payroll operations.

Our payroll spans 7 countries with a range of complexities, a headcount of 3700 and growing and ambitious plans for expansion into other countries. We are looking for someone to join our team who can autonomously process and reconcile payroll changes and get involved in key payroll projects all whilst maintaining our high standards of accuracy. Our payroll team works to continuously enhance our employee experience, so we’re looking for someone who can embrace a little bit of ambiguity and change.

  • As a regulated bank we are audited regularly. You will own the relationship with our auditors and set action plans and work with the team to close them in a timely fashion.

You should apply if:

  • You have experience of end to end payroll processes from data input to data reconciliation and reporting.
  • You have knowledge of legislation and best practice either through professional qualifications (such as CIPP) or through on the job experience.
  • You have the ability to work to a high level of accuracy, autonomy and demonstrate attention to detail.
  • You are highly organised with the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise appropriately.

It is not a requirement but we are interested to meet candidates who:

  • Have experience working in a global company with payrolls across the world
  • Have experience working with more complex benefits such as share schemes and salary sacrifice
