About the Role

The People & Culture Business Partner plays a critical role in aligning HR strategies with business objectives, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. As a Strategic People & Culture Business Partner, you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing strategic HR guidance and support to drive organizational success.This is an 18 month contract.

Notes on schedule: 

  • The working hours for this role are: 12:00pm to 8:00pm
  • This is a 100% in-person role, meaning you will be required to come to our Distribution Center located at 3520 Laird Road Mississauga, L5L 5Z7

What you will be doing:

  • Develop strategic relationships with your business partners by building trust and influencing business decisions.
  • Ability to understand business goals as well as design and implement new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity and development of HR within the company.
  • Lead change initiatives by providing guidance and support to managers and employees, ensuring smooth transitions and effective implementation of organizational changes.
  • Manage full-cycle People programs (including but not limited to onboarding, performance management, organizational design, benefits, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, and offboarding) to support operational and strategic business needs.
  • Partner with leaders to identify talent gaps, develop succession plans, and implement talent development programs to build a strong pipeline of future leaders.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance organizational effectiveness and employee engagement. Develop and implement initiatives to foster a positive work environment and improve employee satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations. Stay abreast of changes in HR legislation and proactively implement necessary updates to policies and practices.
  • Lead or participate in People projects and initiatives as assigned, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Drive performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and development planning. Provide coaching and support to managers on performance management best practices.
  • Ability to root cause issues quickly and uncover core challenges using data, then lean in, consult with, and teach the business how decisions affect the organization.
  • Accountable for key People metrics including employee engagement, regrettable turnover, attrition, etc.
  • A true hands-on approach as well as the ability to successfully monitor the "pulse" of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices. Address employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

At a minimum, you have: 

  • Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or similar role, with a track record of success in partnering with senior leaders to drive business results.
  • Experience supporting an hourly population, ideally within manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution industries.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices and provincial health and safety, employment, and human rights legislation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent coaching and conflict resolution skills, with demonstrated experience in leading complex workplace investigations.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Sound judgment and consistently adhere to fair, ethical conduct with respect to employee relations and our highly diverse employee population.
  • Team player with strong prioritization, time management, and organization skills.
  • Ability to work within a quickly changing, high pressure environment and with a great deal of ambiguity.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive HR information.
  • Experienced in Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets) and HR tools (HRIS, ATS, scheduling/time tracking).  Experience with Workday is an asset.
