People Operations Advisor - Austin

We’re looking for a People Operations Advisor for our Austin location to join our Americas People Operations Team. This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission, grow as a People Advisor and help save millions more people money. This role will report to the Senior People Operations Lead for the Americas based in Tampa, Florida.

Your mission:

Our People Operations’ team vision is to create fast, convenient, transparent Wiser support, powered by smart tech and human advice. As part of the journey, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to own the overall employee advisory for the Customer Support teams in Austin and Tampa. You’ll manage employee relations matters, provide important insights and sound recommendations for policy and process changes and ensure key stakeholders are continually informed of legislation, law and regulation updates. Our mission is to assist our Leads and teams to deliver a seamless employee operations experience throughout the entire ‘Wiser’ journey for our growing Wise population in the Americas. 🌎

You will also provide input regarding team goals, KPIs, efficiencies, process improvements and future optimization of our People Operations team, as well as participate by providing deliverables of local and global projects.

Here’s how you’ll be contributing to People Operations:
  • Coach and upskill Leads who need guidance on employee relations matters from start to finish (e.g. conflict management, investigation, disciplinary) through an objective and analytical lens
  • Provide advice to leaders from other offices, guiding them through US specific processes, systems, and benefit policies
  • Be the point of contact for employee queries and provide timely responses to your fellow Wisers
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations and providing advice on US HR legislation and policy
  • Own leave management and ADA requests for the Customer Support teams
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze trends to help educate and advise the CS function
  • Act as a partner to our People Servicing teams (Payroll and People Technology)
  • Own and contribute to projects both on a local and global level, which will collaboratively shape the future of Wise as we continue to grow
  • Provide additional support to the wider People team and other leaders with ad-hoc tasks/data queries and project-based work

This role will give you the opportunity to:
  • Contribute towards the bi-annual planning cycles - Attend global review sessions, collate data on team performance, share ideas for improvements and lead new projects, etc.
  • Create continuous improvement within the team - Partner with your global team to recommend new approaches and policy and procedure changes to co-create solutions from a global and mass customization outlook
  • Maximize advisory impact and partnership - Collaborate with the People Partners (HRBPs) to share advisory data and trends to drive empowered and inclusive stakeholder relationships
  • Be part of our mission to make money without borders the new normal

About you:
  • Highly experienced in HR operations in a fast paced environment
  • Radiant people skills with huge amounts of personal energy, with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships, and happy to be the first point-of-contact for our Wisers
  • Extensive knowledge of US labor law and employee relation procedures
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal. Other languages are a plus!
  • Honesty and reliability - able to own up to mistakes and learn from them (we all make them, after all) and reliable - someone who never breaks promises
  • Customer driven-  is customer centric, always thinking about how to automate and improve the Wiser experience while working smarter not harder
  • Detail focused - you’ll have an eye for the details and be data-oriented, using these two skills to drive informed decisions
  • Adaptable - you will be as comfortable working with ambiguity as you are with certainty. We need someone who can be agile enough to respond to changing priorities, but be able to have big picture, proactive thinking for the long term path ahead
  • Curiosity to learn & grow - we don’t expect an expert in every HR topic at this level, but we do expect you to have a positive, can-do attitude, and a desire to learn and grow the knowledge and experience you already do have
  • A strong growth mindset - being resilient to and excited about change in a hyper-growth environment, with the opportunities it brings and the multiple projects you’ll be involved with simultaneously
  • Ability to multitask - you must be able to handle multiple tasks - often at the same time. You’ll also have the ability to start, stop, pick-up, and complete tasks on a recurring basis

Some extra skills that would be great:
  • Strong HRIS knowledge and technical aptitude, such as familiarity with G-suite, and experience with Workday, Slack and/or Google Suite would be a plus
  • Additional education such as a Bachelor Degree is strongly encouraged but not required
  • An up-to-date professional HR Certification to demonstrate your expertise and commitment within the field of Human Resources would be nice to have, but is not required
  • Financial services experience – you possess deeper insight to empower our team further with our commercial strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
