How you can help make a better world of workCulture Amp is on a mission to embed analytics and insights across our product suite. We have recently acquired the people analytics platform Orgnostic, and are looking to build out our data platform to further unlock the value of our data. To help us deliver on this mission, we are seeking a Principal Data Engineer to join our Data Intelligence Camp. You will play a key role in designing and implementing our data architecture, enabling analytics, insights, and AI/ML across our platform. You’ll also be responsible for uplifting our capabilities in data management, quality, and governance, working with data owners and implementing processes and automation to ensure that the data is reliable, consistent, and trustworthy.
As part of this team of amazing humans,
You will
- Collaborate across team and camp boundaries to drive alignment on our data strategy and ensure that data owners and data consumers are empowered by our data platform to deliver value to their customers
- Ensure Team Leads and engineers in your camp are supported, productive, enjoy their work, have clear remits, and help them to resolve issues to improve culture and engagement to maximise their impact on our mission.
- Ensure a steady flow of consistent communication within and across all of our Camps. Facilitate knowledge-sharing, plan visibility and alignment of large initiatives between the Camps and the VP of Engineering.
- Mentor the Team Leads, Staff Engineers and the rest of the engineers in your camp, to support their needs and development, and to drive consistent, sustainable technical excellence.
You have
- Significant experience working as a data engineer, with a track record of delivering high quality data products that produce real business outcomes
- Strong knowledge of several of the following: SQL, Python, dbt, AWS Redshift, AWS CDK, , Apache Kafka, realtime analytics platforms such as Clickhouse or Druid, and stream processing tools such as Apache Flink
- Experience implementing programs around data governance, privacy, and compliance
- Excellent facilitation and stakeholder management skills - You make clear and timely decisions in the face of many nuanced trade offs and varied opinions.
You are
- Able to chart a path on a long term journey through much complexity, change and ambiguity.
- A clear communicator who can share a compelling plan and the reasoning behind your decisions, ensuring campers with varying degrees of experience and context can understand your message and approach.
- A natural coach and teacher - You always make time to coach and teach all those around you. This includes engineers in your camp, your peers and those you report to.
- A Driver - You get things done and you like to roll up your sleeves and get to work, pushing a number of initiatives forward simultaneously.
