About the role

As a Principal Software Engineer on our Client Engineering team, you will work with other engineering leaders within the Client team, and outside the client team, to help build necessary technical direction, architecture, and platform strategy on our customer-facing devices. You will bring your full stack expertise to solve challenges on mobile platforms (Apple and Android), living room platforms (Roku, FireTV, and SmartTV), and gaming platforms (Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch) . You will be an advocate for pushing our core values of excellence in operations, engineering, and delivery. You will establish relationships across Engineering, Program Management, Product, and QA to help establish our technology roadmap to meet our primary goals. You will join an international team of 100+ client engineers and leaders that have helped establish Crunchyroll as the leader in it's space.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of software in ambiguous and complex problem spaces across our client engineering platforms that have a long-term impact on product, technology and architecture.

  • Help lead the definition and design of technical solutions that are noteworthy in some way (e.g. a significant refactor that simplifies or improves architectural quality, enables Crunchyroll to maintain a competitive advantage, offers extensibility, performance, scalability, or has an organization-wide influence).

  • Identify major bottlenecks or existing architectural complexity that slow down or prevent innovation, pose an important business or security risk.

  • Set the standard among engineers in the organization for engineering excellence.

  • Participate in design reviews, improving product delivery and aligning teams across your organization towards architectural strategies.

  • Bring clarity and simplicity when there is complexity

  • You applying judgment and experience to balance trade-offs between competing interests.

  • Establish a culture with regard to our core tenets of excellence in operations, engineering, and delivery.

  • Participate in the hiring and interviewing process and act as a spokesperson for the Crunchyroll engineering team.

  • Keep up to date on industry trends by researching and benchmarking new technologies against other solutions in the market.

  • You have hands-on experience developing in multiple code stacks - mobile, web, backend, db, infrastructure.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
