About the job

This position is needed to be a key leader in the development, deployment, and maintenance of software solutions within our cloud-based on-premise applications, tools, and infrastructure. 

This role will ensure systems designed, developed and monitored to increase operational efficiency and stability, and managed to mitigate risk. You will be responsible for owning and maturing the standards, best practices, and roadmaps for the Infrastructure teams, globally. You will also partner cross-functionally with internal teams and stakeholders to provide and scale complex infrastructure solutions to support needs of the company.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Design / develop technical standards and ensure knowledge transfer with an emphasis on security and scalability
  • Harden internal systems against penetration and attack and participate in an on-call rotation for escalated issues
  • Partner with staff to provide support and troubleshooting for all network related issues for the user community
  • Function as technical design lead to develop solutions for projects / initiatives in Network Engineering domain
  • Develop / implement framework and operational metrics to inform stakeholders of health of Twilio’s network
  • Mentor next generation of network engineers  and provide thought leadership on emerging technologies
  • Ensure planned testing activities are performed and technical criteria are met for rapid disaster recovery
  • Manage audits, risk assessments and vulnerability scans to ensure compliance, identify and resolve risk
  • Research, analyze, and recommend the implementation of changes to rectify any network deficiencies
  • Create and maintain documentation for network design, IT network standards and process

Required:

  • 10+ years practical analysis experience in network design, administration, operations, and procedures
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent and/or 10+ years of progressive overall IT support experience
  • Experience with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) / Network Detection and Response (NDR)
  • Knowledge of Identity Access Management (IAM) within AWS, GCP, and Azure cloud platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of core networking protocols including 80211, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
  • Hands-on experience configuring Cisco/Palo Alto routers, switches and firewalls
  • Knowledge of network security to implement security policy for compliance
  • Serverless network architecture deployment and support and logging
  • Significant experience with Active Directory and DNS

Location 

This role will be remote, and based in the U.S. but is not eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.

Approximately 15% travel is anticipated.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • Based in Colorado: $140,000-$180,000.
  • Based in New York, Washington State or California (outside the San Francisco Bay Area): $150,000-$190,000.
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
