The Principal Communications Enablement Program Manager, Customer Identity Opportunity 

 

Okta is seeking an experienced communications program manager to drive internal and external communications for Okta’s Customer Identity Product Unit and its leaders. You will shape our communications to elevate our posture and visibility through targeted, consistent, and high-quality communications. 

 

This individual will evolve and execute our communications strategy, creating engaging content across our various mediums. Excelling at distilling complex technical information into simplified messaging that resonates across a broad audience is critical. By fostering alignment and collaboration internally, this individual will accelerate and scale our communications to maximize impact and reach.  

 

This high-output role requires strategic thinking, a proven track record for delivering high-quality, engaging communications within technology or Identity and Access Management sectors, and a keen attention to detail. 

 

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Writing & Content Creation: Research and develop unique content, including leadership newsletters, keynote addresses, blogs, video scripts, whitepapers, and internal correspondence, in the desired tone and voice of the leader.
  • Executive Communications: Responsible for executive communications for the Product Unit President and other executives, including writing, consulting, and editing, as well as developing thought leadership campaigns. 
  • Strategy Development: End-to-end definition, refinement, and execution of the internal and external communications strategy that supports our objectives and enhances our posture and visibility across Okta and externally. 
  • Content Calendar Management:  Establish and manage a content calendar for all communications related to our product unit to ensure communications are delivered to the right audience, at the right time, and through the right medium.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and continuously analyze data and KPIs to measure communications effectiveness, provide regular performance reports, and make data-driven decisions to optimize strategies.
  • Driving Alignment: In collaboration with leaders, other comms teams, and partners across Okta, ensure the alignment of internal messaging, timing, and editorial strategies.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate seamlessly with Okta’s Corporate Communications and Product Marketing teams to orchestrate external communications specific to the Customer Identity Cloud’s product or business, including blogs, executive speeches, white papers, etc. 
  • Driving Ceremonies: Own and drive internal ceremonies, including Customer Identity Product Unit All Hands, to deliver engaging, inspiring, and relevant content. 
  • High-Quality Deliverables: Adhere to Okta's style guidelines to produce a high-quality, error-free copy.

 

What you’ll bring to the role

  • 8+ years of experience relevant communications experience, ideally owning an executive thought leader profile
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications, storytelling, and presentations, requiring minimal editing and rework, in the tone and voice of technical leaders
  • Ability to interpret complex technology innovations and translate them into bold, compelling, and distinctive content appropriate for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Advanced slide design skills. Able to design visually appealing slides that convey information to an audience in a clear and engaging manner
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing communications strategies to increase awareness and visibility of leaders or products
  • Experience developing communication frameworks, assets, playbooks, and templates that drive consistency and cohesion
  • Organized and detail-oriented self-starter with prioritization, organization, and demonstrated program & stakeholder management skills in a deadline-driven environment
  • Collaborative approach to working with the ability to interact with and influence at all levels, including executive leadership
  • Agile and adaptable to change in a fast-paced, remote environment while multitasking, re-prioritizing projects, and communicating priority updates to stakeholders
  • Experience using Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms), preferred
  • Ability to travel 15% of the time, at minimum 

 

And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following:

  • Experience developing videos, graphics, and other engaging content
  • Deep understanding of social media platforms and SEO
  • Experience in Identity and Accessibility Management (IAM) or related fields

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$164,000—$246,000 USD The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $184,000—$276,000 USD
