The Difference You Will Make:

You will help develop Airbnb strategies for enabling the business and how Airbnb and the platform is treated for indirect taxation.

A Typical Day: 

  • Analyze and draft proposed US state and local and international indirect tax legislation impacting the company.
  • Assist in managing state and local tax matters globally, with a primary focus on indirect taxes.
  • Assist the Tax Controversy team with managing state and local tax audits, and assist with negotiations with local taxing authorities.
  • Assist with US and international indirect tax policy efforts.
  • Perform research and analysis relating to tourist taxes, sales and use taxes, VAT/GST and other applicable taxes relating to travel related service.
  • Provide indirect tax advice relating to new business initiatives 
  • Assist with various tax analyses impacting financial statements.
  • Complete ad hoc projects as assigned.

Your Expertise:

  • A law degree or advanced degree in taxation is required.
  • Minimum 8+ years experience in tax matters with a strong focus on indirect taxes is required.
  • Experience in both public accounting or law firms and industry is highly desirable.
  • Excellent tax research, writing, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in performing all essential duties.
  • Highly motivated, strong analytical skills, and results driven.
  • Proven ability to succeed in both collaborative and independent work environments.
  • Strong ability to interface with multiple groups within the Airbnb Tax organization as well as across functional groups outside of Tax. 
  • Ability to deal with high volume transactions and juggle a multitude of jurisdictions simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment. 
  • Must be passionate about the company.

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.  

Pay Range$155,000—$195,000 USD
