We are seeking a motivated Process Planner to support our Materials Labs, where we conduct a wide variety of material testing and development directly supporting every single program at SpaceX. The Materials Lab sits within our Materials Engineering organization where our vision is to seamlessly integrate with all program partners to quickly deliver reliable, cost effective and scalable materials solutions that enable SpaceX to achieve a multi-planetary future
This individual will be a key team member, owning the work instruction planning landscape for the entire lab. We are entering a new chapter for our Materials Labs and you will be directly contributing to the development of our streamlined, organized, and detailed test request system. A basic understanding of material science fundamentals is preferred, though not required. Success in this role will require being curious, hands-on, flexible, a quick learner, organized, detail-oriented, and having a collaborative, can-do attitude.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interact with engineers, technicians, specialists, and managers to develop standardized test instructions for materials testing (i.e. mechanical, thermal, chemistry, machining, characterization)
- Interpret engineering documentation to create accurate technician-oriented work instructions and process documents that fully meet design intent
- Lead engineering master development cycles, and track planning release across multiple different work centers for all of Hawthorne-based material testing
- Creatively overhaul and re-design any project or workflow to optimize comprehension while meeting requirements
- Maximize process and instruction efficiency and reduce the probability of technician error. Autonomously work to standardize process planning across all lab areas
- Increase accuracy of operation sequencing
- Understand safety requirements related to hazardous operations, and implement appropriately
- Manage maintenance requirement tracking, and change scope to ensure 100% incorporation of requirements per mission
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 1+ years of experience in manufacturing planning, technical writing, or process planning
- 1+ years of professional experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in a technical or business field
- Experience converting engineering instructions and information into content intended for a variety of audiences and ability levels
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing planning or technical writing within the laboratory, automotive, maritime, transportation or aerospace industry
- Experience reading technical drawings and schematics
- Ability to write basic SQL scripts to pull relevant information from large databases
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse co-workers within the engineering, technician, and leadership teams
- Ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities
- Demonstrated abilities for strong analytical, project management, computer, communication, and writing skills
- Urgency to complete and improve repeated tasks that will require expertise and attention to detail
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to support extended hours, nights and/or weekends as required
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:Process Planner/Level 1: $23.00 - $27.00/hourProcess Planner/Level 2: $26.00 - $32.50/hourProcess Planner/Level 3: $31.00 - $38.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
