We’re looking for a Regulatory Product Compliance Manager to play a central role in the expansion of our Assets product in Europe and the UK.  With Assets, we’re changing how people think about holding money. Our customers can choose to hold their money as “cash”, or hold it as an investment, whilst maintaining access to their invested funds at all time, even being able to pay with their invested balance.  This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact on the way people hold money across the world.

You will help grow the Assets product across Europe and the UK. In your role, you’ll ensure that Wise is fully compliant with the regulatory requirements to offer investment products to its customers in  Europe and the UK.

You will be responsible for:  Launching New Products and Features in a compliant way:
  • Collaborate with product teams throughout the product lifecycle: from design and user testing, to launch and post-launch monitoring.
  • Ensure that regulatory analysis of new products and services are performed and well-documented, and that related controls are implemented consistently prior to launch.
  • Empower product teams to take a risk based approach to building products, processes and controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our product proposition / competitiveness by thoroughly analysing relevant regulations and challenging existing interpretations and market practice.

Managing and Mitigating Regulatory Risks:
  • Identify and manage regulatory risks for Wise’s investment product;
  • Perform pre-launch and ongoing regulatory risk assessments, offering effective advice to product managers on existing and forthcoming regulations, gaps and risks;
  • Collaborate with Compliance teams and Product teams, to ensure remediation plans are agreed upon across lines and executed timely;
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the 2nd line compliance oversight team to ensure product teams are aware of new and upcoming regulations.
  • Build strong regulatory analysis and documentation to help  represent the product team and its decisions  to challenges faced from external and internal compliance oversight functions

A bit about you:
  • Deep working knowledge of MiFID II and related investment regulations across Europe or the UK;
  • Experience working in a legal or compliance role with a focus on financial regulation;
  • Problem solving attitude, with the ability to use regulation together with data to drive business decisions;
  • A natural owner who wants to go beyond an advisory role and take initiative and drive projects end to end;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with product managers and engineers and provide practical, actionable, and valuable recommendations;
  • Familiar with the evolving regulatory expectations of the Estonian Financial Supervision and Resolution Authority or FCA (or equivalent European regulator) with regards to investment firms (and ideally even Payment Services / Electronic Money firms);
  • Experience (or keen interest) in working in a fast-growing technology driven environment

Nice to have but not essential
  • You have an understanding of payment systems and the Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2)
  • You have worked in a startup or scale-up environment in the past.

What we offer in return:
  • Competitive base salary
  • Stock options package
  • Generous parental leave
  • Private healthcare plan
  • A fun work environment with social activities and events
  • Lots of other awesome Wise benefits
