What’s the role?

As Design Manager on our Design Systems team, you will help shape our design system DNA into a high-quality foundation that all our product experiences will be built upon. The Design System at Agoda is a high-impact project/product that drives ease of implementation and technical foundation.  Our goal is to empower our designers, engineers & product organization to build great products consistently and efficiently. .

You’ll be a key contributor in establishing best practice design across UI components, interaction patterns, and visual design as well as owning the documentation and overall design language. You’ll guide the vision for the entire system and be the key leader for advocating design systems into our organization.

You’ll have a passion for quality experiences that are accessible and usable. You’ll advocate for the design system across the organization, engaging with key stakeholders and collaborating with all our product teams. As well as managing a team of designers to create and refine a systematic and unified visual language for Agoda’s products across our mobile and web platforms.

What’s product design management like at Agoda?

Typically, product design managers at Agoda partner with product management and engineering to lead teams passionate about customer outcomes, while mentoring and growing the product designers on that team. 

Day to day, it looks like: 

  • Lead product designers by mentoring and creating career growth opportunities for those on your team
  • Create a strategy and vision to move our Design system to the next level
  • Partner with Experience Design, Product Management, and Engineering leadership to plan and coordinate work across the Design Systems team to meet strategic goals and roadmap objectives
  • You have experience designing for both accessibility and internationalization
  • Manage and build a team of designers focussed on scale, accessibility, and usability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team leads to craft the vision, strategy, and operations of your initiatives
  • Use an iterative process, working closely with design and engineering counterparts to design, prototype, and validate design ideas
  • Create components, high fidelity prototypes, user guidelines, presentation decks, and concepts under specific direction from senior design staff
  • Document guidelines for using and implementing components
  • Develop tools and processes for designers and engineers to engage with the design system
  • Create best in class foundational components, patterns and visual language
  • Raise the quality of visual and interaction design by bringing inspired ideas to the table and guiding those ideas through to fruition with attention to detail
  • Develop and manage original creative that is informed by experience strategy, research, and brand and marketing principles
  • Ensure we are building the right products for our customers, and help teams take the best near-term steps toward their long-term vision
  • Advocate for our customer, and guide teams to deliver well-executed and on-brand experiences by using our design system
  • Lead regular design reviews, critiques, and brainstorming sessions for your teams 
  • Facilitate continuous learning and improvement for the product design team and its members
  • Recruit and hire outstanding design talent and facilitate onboarding of new designers
  • Work alongside the broader Design Leadership team to craft our teams’ culture, processes, and tools

Product Design Manager at Agoda means you have a track record of:

  • Leading design strategy for complex initiatives and growing design leaders 
  • Leading through ambiguity, making use of your soft skills to persuade and build alignment with senior leaders around a vision and approach
  • Using holistic thinking to identify customer experience opportunities that create impact across the organization
  • Partnering with a Design & product leadership team to help shape management practices, and mentoring other design leaders to put those in practice
  • Incorporating advancements in the field of product design to guide the skills and practices of our team
  • Developing a deep understanding of current native technologies and design patterns, and can guide your design team to use these in practice
